What turbo for 500/600rwhp ?

Hi Guys
I've a FD with stock twins and stock port engine for now but, i want more power and i wanted to do a single turbo conversion.
I've being trying to find a good turbo that could give me arround 500/600rwhp, not on stock ports but with a large street port.
My mods for now are 550cc/1680cc injectors, supra fuel pump, hks twinpower, blitz fmic, full exhaust, all those things, my last dyno did 370rwhp at 16psi.
What turbo should i buy to get my goals ? and any extra parts...
I wanted a decent spool turbo on low rpm but with great power on high rpm
Have been looking to the borg warner s366xl ... what you guys think ?

Thanks

(sorry for my bad english guys)

The S366 is a good choice. The XL was something that was designed for class racing, had a small inlet or something weird.

i had an interesting dyno session w an R85 which is a Borg Warner S362 w a larger hotside. looking at the compressor map for a TEC 300, S362, R85 i see max flow of 64 pounds per minute.

64 X 14.471 = 926 CFM/ 1.92 = 482 SAE max rotary rw hp.

my dyno runs produced 501 standard at 20 psi w pump gas and 1260 CC/Min of meth. at 20 psi the turbo makes 60 pounds max according to the compressor map. that's 462 standard.

i was very impressed w the R85... 414 foot pounds of (standard) Tq!

also weird is Tim's Turbos ad for the S366. it states the turbo makes 80 pounds and has "one of the best looking compressor maps..." and the map (above) shows 64 pounds.

so what's the deal w these turbos and can you get the S366 w a large turbine and hotside?

Originally the R85 was a S362 which the compressor wheel is a 61.5mm. I made max power with that turbo on C16 at 27 lbs of boost on a street port 561 whp with a 22 lbs wastegate spring forcing the turbo to do all it could with a 1.15 a/r. I then upgraded and bought the S366 extended tip which stepped the compressor wheel to a 66mm wheel 1.15 a/r and pushed out 610 whp at 28 lbs I forget what the hotside wheel was but I believe it to be 80mm but you would have to contact bullseye racing for exact specs. Really if I remember correctly it is a diesel application turbo from borg warner. Attached sheets with first one being R85(61.5mm) and S366 extended tip (66mm)

Are you looking for 500/600 hp at the wheels or crank? 500 hp is more doable, once you get into 600 hp your pushing more physical limits of everything.

Sounds like the bw 366 would be a good choice. Along with some form of aux injection, since you told me race fuel and e85 are not available to you. You will need to turn your base fuel pressure up also if you plan to keep the 550/1680 setup. Supra pump will most likely need upgraded too. You could run 2 stock FD pumps, which is what I'm doing. Or run 2 supra pumps since you already have one, or you can upgrade to a single large fuel pump, which would cost the most, but be the simplest. Rewire your fuel pump in any case. Look into a 4" exhaust system, and get a good tuner and some fat, sticky tires.

if you've got stock twins maybe you need to work your way up power-wise

You will need a 3 bar or higher map sensor also. If you drag race from a dig you'll need some kind of clutch style differential, such as one from a turbo 2 or a kaaz. Solid differential and motor mounts and a tranny brace. Chromoly axels, then just start upgrading as things break.

Good advice.

That's almost exactly what I had to do. However, I still do not use a tranny brace but my PPF is welded up.
