What do I need to go single and how much?

Here's my situation, I've been looking for a TT car. I've narrowed it down between the REX and a Sup. As of right now I'm leaning towards the REX. The Supra guys are asking way too much for there car's. Damn F&F movie. Anyway, I know it will cost around 12-15K to go single in a supra. How much will it cost to go single in the REX. I've heard of reliability problems with the REX, but I'm willing to work with it. Also what do I need to make the wankel less prone to detonation. I've always love the REX for it's looks, but the only thing that scares me is the realibility. Still searching for a Supra, but the REX is plan B for me.

This all depends on what you have already done to your car.

Here is a basic list of what you would need.
Single turbo: $2899-$3900
ECU: $1250-$1500
Fuel Pump: $250
Intercooler: Dont have to have this but recommended. $1000-$1500
Larger injectors: $375
Boost Controller: $330-$550

Thats a basic setup. All depends on what you want to spend. Its alot cheaper going single on a RX-7 over a Supra.

Hope that helps

Well i don't have a rex yet, I'm still debating between the rex and the supra. I've been trying to know everything I can for the rex to run realible with a single

As of right now a REX sounds so much better than getting the almost 10-15k over the blue book value of the Supra

So far for
Turbo- Greddy T-78
Ecu- Haltech or Power FC
Fuel Pump- ???? I don't know yet
Intercooler- Greddy
Larger injectors- I think I'm just going to RX7.com for their fuel system kit
Boost Controller- Greddy Profec B

What about cooling
-Fluidyne for radiator, and some type of bigger oil cooler to replace the stock one.

Need some more input Guys. I about ready to sell my MR2 so I can get the a TT within the next 1-2 months.

Well, and this a big well, if you can find a stock 7 it woudl go as follows for best performance:

Exhaust (N1 appears to be preferred) 5-600

resonated mp 300 ish

dp 300

intercooler for single turbo with intake (APexi) 1500

BOV (I like the SSQ) 300

T78 (a great choice btw) 3800

Haltech E6K (avoids having a boost controller, and gets rid of ECU according to some, and you can control everything and it datalogs to tell you if your car ever came close to doing something stupid, but you need a laptop for it, but a lil cheap old pos would do it) 1500

Fuel Pump (your choice depending on what you want to push)
Nippo Denso is 250 and supports up to 500 hp claim

Injectors if pushing lotsa boost I like 850 prim/1600sec, or go 1300s all the way around 800 for 4 1300s

Clutch flywheel combo (no idea on cost, should be a grand or two?)

if it's an R1 you can live with the suspension (hehe)

wide 17s (no need for anythign bigger since weight is bad)
somethign like 17x8.5 and 17x9.5 SSRs is a good choice I think

Reliability mods 1500 at KDR and AST if not included
Street port ????
check tranny synchros etc
and some other sutff

last but not least

GAUGES (boost, egt, air/fuel (not very accurate usually), lean/rich (this gives you two ways to check it), and the saab gauge panel to mount them with the sterring column boost gauge I guess (even thoI hate that mounting)

turbo timer 150

dyno tune the fuel etc with someone KDR is good, or Crispeed, hitman, etc

if you get an R1(highly recommended) then it has two oil coolers

then you should be really close to done, but this is in 5 min off the top of my head so correct away rotary gods.

oh yeah a base total would be around 20k and thats not to go single thats to make a complete car, assuming a good engine, frankly find a nice FD (of hte R1 variety) with a blown motor for 5 -10 depending on mods already on it etc, if it has a blown motor and is 5 k and assuming no mods whatsoever (near impossible to find around here) then for the 25k youd spend on a decent shape supra without going single you could be a single 7 with a brand new engine, so that really cant be beat in my mind. Not too mention the FD is a better car handling wise (stock v stock), and is so much lighter. If you put down 500 rwhp with the set-up (very possible with a T78) then there would be very very few supras you would ever see that could touch you. the 800 lb weight difference makes a big hp difference (anyone wanna tell me the exact number at the wheels, i've heard like 80-100).

Check teh for sale section here, there are so nice singl'd 7s for sale, you sent us the same link twice. I've seen the car from new york on there, not the most extensive mods list, but for 5k more you could be very close to done, it'd take me at least 10-15k more since I want it all. There is also a 93 PFS 7 on there that is nice. You may want to check on it, they are a good shop, and if it's putting out 400 hp (at the crank I'm betting) that means it isn't single turbo'd yet. Buying a car with a single on it already could be asking for trouble from the previous owners usage.
