what is the best wastegate?
I've been recommended to go with a turbonetics racegate... I want to run about 14 psi on a 60-1 hifi.
They are like 400 bucks though.
What wastegates will be good for my setup?

I recomend either the Greddy or HKS wastegates, me and my friends have had really bad experiences with the Turbonetics gates, it seems that they don't take the exhaust temp of a rotary too well and they have gotten stuck on some of my friends, and you know what that means. Not to say that Turbonetics wastegates are bad, I just think that they're not good for a rotary, but for a piston motor they work good due to the temperatures not being so high.

im not a big fan of turbonetics gates either. several of my friends piston and rotary alike have had problems with them. ive never heard any complaints from HKS users, including myself and ive also heard great things about the TiAL gates

turbonetics wastegates/racegates have a tendency to fail due to the temps experienced when being bolted to a turbo fed rotary engine.
The tail one is more than the HKS one cause it is a larger size.

I have the HKS 40mm but I have yet to use it yet, I heard good thinkg about the rest of the HKS wastegates, butin this matter for Enzo250, I know alot of people that like the Tial wastegates. Im either gonna pick up a Tial or a HKS racing wastegate. I also hear alot of people being very very happy with the Greddy wastegates so, Its basically take your pick.

Do all these wastegates have a standard flange boltup pattern? Reason I ask is cuz I have a Deltagate, and would rather have a HKS or something better ... can the others bolt up to the downpipe flanges I already have?

and why would that be? what makes it superior to the rest of the wastegates out there? or is it just YOUR opinion that it is better than all the other ones you have/haven't tried??????
H.K.S
- Lower Section is cast iron
- Seats are mild steel
- Tops are cast aluminum (untreated)
Problems while running with leaded fuel because mild steel seats will corrode and fuse the valve to the seat... This will create a very dangerous overboost condition... Yes it has happened to me.
Tial:
- Lower section is stainless
- Seats are stainless
- Tops are anodized and very well protected
Tial will not corrode over the coarse of time and will outflow H.k.s.
Funny thing is the smaller tial(40mm) already flows better then the hks. The Tial 46mm is the best wastegate on the market.

i am pretty sure my pair of 40 mm wastegates will out flow your 46mm tial and cost less for the pair aswell

Turbonetics's wastegates are designed with a two piece valve that are pressed together to form one peice. That design under high heat always seem to fail! Turbonetics just released a new improved design of wastegate. I still won't reccomend using their wastegates though.
If you're looking for flow, HKS has one of the highest flowing wastegates on the market presently. It's called the GT Wastegate and it features a 60mm valve! Just about all the 2000hp turbo V-8's are using them. The wastegate attaches to the manifold via v-bands!

Some people try to tell me that the HKS GT is a bit overkill. But with a well ported motor, and when not running full boost, ill never worry about a boost spike!
Got a hellova deal on it too. Cost me as much as my old HKS 40mm.

V Bands? mind explaining for the weak minded
Hopefully I'll understand more once I read more of Maximum Boost, up to page 30, im going slow but I only have time in school when i have no schoolstuff to do and I try to understand it the first time around
Already proving very useful :-D
and btw would a rotary go under four stroke or 1/3 stroke or 1 stroke. I was trying to figure that out. I'm talking literally what they would be, not just classification
