After i got all the air bled out of my old system without even boosting it i would get about a half a shot glass of water out just bringing it up to operating temps. I ran a little overflow bottle to keep air out of the system.

It could be that you were pushing the system for its size and it wasn't able to keep up. My system has been beat to hell at the track and on the street and it is working so efficiently the water temp only gets warm to the touch, and only on the hose going down to the heat exchanger from the intercooler, the other one coming up from the heat exchanger is at ambient temperature. And if you think about it, the water should only be slightly above ambient temp or the system is not doing its job like a FMIC does bringing the air close to ambient temps. The water is what cools the pressurized air so if its hot, your system is not working properly.

Mine has never built pressure, not even once, even after beating on it repeatedly. Then again, it was built for a little more than I am pushing through it. Just like Viking War Hammer's setup which has the same core (4.5" thick) and heat exchanger(big), which is sold as their 600-1200hp kit.

I did my water to air back in 1999,, 10yrs noprobs. 14+14 + 4" core, bilge pump , and radiator 1975 Cadillac evap core with welded fittings.
will start to get hot on short ,tight autocross, or 3-4 street drag runs, but a 5min light cruise it comes back down, 10-20* above ambient, in Texas.

one thing i did find out about it was on long cruises, at no boost ,65-70, gets better MPG with pump shut off, GO figure!! course you gotta remember to turn on if someone wants to play!

Wow VWH, nice setup. I'm in the process of making the mounting hardware. Hopefully I will be done in a couple of weeks.

Found some of this stuff here. It's Unicoil. They only have it up to 1" sizes though.
