wastegate dump tube length?
I am trying to come up with a satisfactory solution to my wastegate venting. I am looking for some sort of comprimise between power and noise level. I had the tube vented but it was too loud, so I routed it back in but I feel I have lost some power and now I am wondering if I can have it vented but maybe add some length to the tube and maybe some sort of small muffler. Anybody tried this? What things will I need to avoid? Or is this just a completely bad idea? This is the XS TO4S with the HKS racing gate.
Thanks,
Cliff

I think that somewhere once upon a time someone used a Supertrapp brand muffler on their wastegate... I think they sell ones that look like a big Honda fart can tip, but they're actually mufflers...

As long as the exhaust re-entry point is atleast 18 inches from the turbine housing you shouldn't that much a hp loss. This theory was tested on a Supra and a turbo Honda but not on a rotor-motor. Another friend un the states used a lawnwower muffler on his SR20DET 240SX and a couple guys here in Japan have used N1 type canisters that were meant for K-cars.
