Vac hose/solenoid deletion project
As my non sequential turbo convertion is done, the next step is to remove as much from the lim as possible.
I know this issue has been touched several times by different people but still, detailled info about this has been left out. Several other (how-to) sites have explained this, either in text or unclear pictures.
I hope some of you will join in and explain what impact the removal of these different items will bring to the car.
As you need block off plates to delete these parts I suggest to take it by that order.
1. OMP: oil Metering Pump: every rotary driver should know what this item does. Deletion of this item will depend on your choice to premix or not (mostly determined by a failing OMP in the first place) Personnaly I'll leave it in and add a Rotary Aviation adaptor to use a remote tank of 2-stroke oil.
2. Split air valve: see 1st picture. I assume this is the lower opening in this picture. I'm not to familiar with this part of the LIM/UIM but blocking it will involve no further use of the air pump.
Any advice is welcome here.
3. EGR valve: central item on the outher side of the LIM/ Some come with an electrical connector (Cali and euro FD's). This can be removed and blocked. I have found information that the ones with electronic connectors cannot be removed and need and need a block off plate in between.
Can it be removed or not??? (electrical version)
4. Air control valve: another part of the air pump setup as far as I know (see picture 3. I guess this is in combination with the Split air valve?
5.Air control Pipe: another part of the Air Pump setup?(picture 4,see picture at nr2. upper opening)
6. BAC valve: this valve electronically controls your dile. removing it will leave you to adjust idle manually at the throttle body. (Picture 4 at under side of the UIM with black connector)
7. AWS valve or warm up control: There is a feeler in the TB's water canal to prevent you from overboosting a cold engine (see double throttle). (Picture 5,black item?? Not sure)

Taking a closer look at al the different parts I noticed another butterfly valve in the Y pipe.
By converting to non seq I assume this can also be removed?

This picture shows something I can't define just yet. any help would be aprreciated.
I'm sorry if these question seem stupid to yu but I'm in Europe and though I have searched for decent explanations on the different valves I'm having some difficulties understanding their function and/or location.
Therefore I would higly appreciate your help and guidance in my project.
I hope this can also help other people sort out their problems or solve some open questions.

Thanks for clearing that up. I read that BAC and ISC are more or less working together on the idle control level. Some remove it, some don't. The ones who removed it now neeed to adjust idle manually but it doesn't turn out to be that hard of a job.
I run a PFC by the way, so no need to put in resistors for the solenoids. I can just cap them or cut them.

yup same here. i just taped the connectors up and got them hidden. i'm also converting to single and have the cosmo uim and lim. for this reason i'm having trouble relocating the isc. i like driving the car as much as possible and want to keep the isc. the fd isc is on tb and on the re its on the uim.i've fabricated something and will try this out tomorrow. do you know what air channels the isc line up to?

Bump for myself.. Anyone got any info on the electric connector on the EGR valve? Can I remove this valve as a whole, does it need resistor or does it need to stay tehre (connected) with a block off plate in between?

not too sure why that would be a problem. just delete with block off. pretty much the beauty of going single is removing obsulete egr and sequential hardware. I only run the air intake sensor (relocated), isc and tps on uim.

It's been a while because I had little time to spend on the car, but in the meantime I've come to the next fase of the non-seq convertion. Exhaust manifolds have been reworked, so now it's time for the intake path.
In the Y-section from turbo's to IC I found another valve with some kind of wastegate control. What is it's function and can it be removed completely?
I have not yet found any information about this valve or how to remove it.

I went ahead and removed the butterfly in the Y-pipe, made a block off plate and now I need to go buy some sealant.
I'm still in the middle about removing all the things in the pictures (BAC, EGR,...)
When you have an electrnoic EGR, what is best? remove and block or leave it plugged and put a block off in between,

i always wanted to remove my double throttle but never really understood the process... do you just remove it and thats that or do you do something else on this site its just like drill it out and tap and stops adding details to the write-up. anyone want to elaborate...

When you have the UIM of you will see both butterflies in the UIM. You can try to unscrew the 4 little screws but most likely you will need to drill them out.
Once you're there you can slide out the butterflies through the intake openings and slide out the shaft.
On the backside of the UIM this will leav a hole. You can either tap the hole and put a screw and washer in it (+sealant) or you can buy/make a block off plate and close the hole down like this.
What about the EGR??? (see my question above). Block it or remove it (version with electrical connector)
