Turning a T04B into a 60-1 or 62-1; Possible?

I purchased a Garrett T04B a while back. The compressor housing is a .60 A/R with a S trim compressor wheel and the turbine housing is a 1.00 A/R. My question is, if I could get my hands on a 60-1 hi fi Turbonetics compressor with the housing and the backplate, is it going to be possible to swap it for the original compressor, backplate and housing? Any info would be appreciated.

yes, as long as the seal style is the same.

this will become clear once you have the compressor parts off the turbo.

Exactly as 82streetracer says......

the 2 different seals are carbon and dynamic. Stick with or convert to dynamic, its less drag on the turbo rotating assembly.

BUT, I'd personally skip the HiFi and get the standard T04s compressor houisng, as it flows much more then the HiFi housing (5 to 10 % more flow). The HiFi is a smaller over all comp housing with a smaller diffuser area and smaller over all snail config. It has a .6 A/R with a 3" to 3.25" turbo inlet and a 2" disscharge. The T04s has a larger diffuser and larger overall snail scroll with a large 4" inlet and 2.5" disscharge. The 60-1 and 62-1 is not a Turbonetics exclusive part, only the HiFi option is (HiFi is same as a standard 60-1 but the back of the wheel is moded to fit the smaller backplate and housing.) so any Garret based turbo supplier can get you a 60-1, 62-1 and the housings and backplate.
