Re: TO4S Dyno and Pics
Am I missing something. where did 16psi come into play. not that it's a big difference but I'm just confused.

Awesome numbers!! Jason must really know how to tune for that to be a conservative tuning too.
Id also like to know if that was on a PFC and how much jason charges for his tuning services. thanks

Jason and Zavier, nice job on Ryan's car.
In seeing the single turbo dyno plot, I'm sure, I'll never go single turbo. 200 lb.ft doesn't come until 3500 rpm. That's definitely too low for around town driving. The torque goes up steadily with rpm, and peaks @ 353 lb.ft (impressive BTW) @ 6250 rpm. Assuming 200 lb.ft is good usable starting torque, the torque band is narrower than sequential twins--3500 rpm (from 3500 to 7000 rpm). In comparison to my '99 J-spec sequential twins, 200 lb.ft comes on @ 2700 rpm, peaks @ 281 lb.ft @ 5750 rpm, and drops to 260 lb.ft @ 7000 rpm--usable torque band is 4300 rpm (800 rpm more bandwidth than Ryan's single turbo).
My car is a daily driver, I really LOVE the 200 lb.ft @ 2700 rpm. The car pulls nicely down that low, which is a testament to the beauty of the sequential turbo control system (when it's working properly LOL )
I guess there are always trade-offs to be made. Single turbo peak torque/hp potential and simplicity, but with narrow and peaky power band; or sequential twins' low-end grunt, broad torque/power band, but complex turbo control system.
Ryan, chose his flavor, and that's the 432 rwhp/353 lb.ft torque variety LOL
Congrats, Ryan!

Radkins has a "race port", while SleepR1 has a mild street port.
There are way to many variables to debate about setups either way, the folks who have twins and drive them will argue and the folks with singles will argue against them.
I know that I would never go back to having twins.

Yeah tell me about... twins, non-seq, single, street ports, bridge ports... etc etc...
Like all the flavors in an ice cream store! Each has his favorite.
Personally I'd never go back to twins now that I have a single

Yes, I have a street port from KDR. Dave Barninger told me mine was a "healthy" steet port job, with 25% larger intake and exhaust ports. He said this would result in nice midrange power, which is exactly what the dyno plot shows LOL.
I'm not trying to convince single turbo FD3S owners that sequentials are better. I am saying that, personally, I'd never go single--500 peak hp is not the ultimate goal for me
(I'm sure there at least a few single turbo owners that sometimes wish they had their twins back, when they're putzing around in traffic But I understand if no single turbo FD owners would ever admit that. Afterall, it wouldn't be financially feasible to go back to sequential twins, and experience LESS peak hp LOL )

See this thread for my dyno plot ('99 Jspec twins, streetport motor)

nice numbers radkins.
why are we comparing a bigass single to stock twins, again?
looks like you let off at 7k. With your porting, shouldn't peak power be above that? I would think 7500 at least. Plus, you have the 1.00 hotside...

Manny, a TO4E single would be more up your alley. Power would come on MUCH sooner (about the same as twins from what I understand). My single is not tons of fun to drive in town, but when you let it streth its legs on the highway, watchout!
Jason let off at 7K cause the engine was still a little fresh, and I was doing more of a safe tune till spring when I get some real tires. It's still quite rich up top.

Yeah, Zavier was begging me to switch to T04S...I'd like to see a dyno plot of this turbo. It's hard to beat 200 lb.ft @ 2700 rpm with the '99 twins LOL
I concede your FD3S is the fastest in central Indiana, Ryan
BTW, love the Le Mans quote. It's not quite right...
Hot Italian babe says, "But what is so important about driving faster than anyone else?"
McQueen says, "Alot of people go through life doing things badly. Racing is important to men who do it well. When you're racing--it's life. Anything that happens before or after--is just waiting."

Here are a few dyno graphs of the TO4E I pulled off of the web. These are HP only graphs, but it will give you an idea. You dyno is already on there, so I graphed that also, as well as some BNR's. You have to look at the boost they were running and the mods to get a good grasp of what the turbo itself is doing.

Torque?
Yeah, I'm interested in the torque curves. 200 hp comes on @ 4000 rpm, which what the twins do, but without seeing the torque curve, I really don't know anything about how the car "feels" @ that rpm? Although my J-spec twins hp peak isn't that far away from the plots you posted. Pretty conservative boost settings!

Man...maybe I'll make the drive to Columbus to get mine tuned.
Jason, e-mail me on what kind of money I'd need for you to tune my car.

I was a non-seq guy, who's going single. Hope I can have some numbers like this, at 10lbs like Ernie T.
