Hey guys, running 4" exhaust.. what are you useing for scilencers? or to at least make it sounds more solid or deep? pretty much right now its all 4" straight pipe and a 4" in/out muffler with a 45Deg downturn tip. It has its deep moments but sounds like a sypical rotary :P What are you guys doing for exhaust?
Thanks
Tyler

you think the shape of the muffler will make a difference in sound? like most if nto all stock cars come with oval mufflers instead of the fart can type round things..?
kabooski are you only running one scilencer? and what actual muffler are you running?

Duel Apex n1's
sounded to raspy for my liking
added the magnaflow
I can also install the silencer inserts makes pretty quite still tough sounding tho
My upcoming 4" single system
is going to be a SS 4" in/out oval magnaflow muffler in the middle
and a single 4" in/out 7" round 14" long SS Magnaflow muffler
with a Borla 4" polished stainless downturn tip

I also added the 4" straight through maganaflow racing series oval and it made the car alot quieter and deeper. I highly recomend it. Before all I had werea couple of ebay Apexi N1 wanna be's. You almost had to yell to talk to someone next to my car when it was running. But like I said now its alot better.

damn jegs has these cheap. 106.99 and free shipping.
I got a oval for the center and round for the tail pipe end. I also bought 2 4inch sticks to go with it. Now I need some bends. 2 day air delivery paid by jegs. I will have them Saturday. Now thats sweet

The Magnaflow's are the best all around. They are very quiet for the design and very durable with no power loss. We use Magnaflow on our PP all motor car and have not measured any HP loss. Actually we tried Borla and did not have good luck. The muffler internals came apart after a short time and clogged the outlet.

well jegs got them to me Friday night. Yes in one day. Thats sweet.
Anyways I am happy with these mufflers and their straight thru design. However I did not get the stainless steel 4 inch 4 feet straights I got the aluminumized ones and I might ship them back for the stainless ones. They just seem very thin. Now I am getting the mandrel bends from a online resource and I will drop some pics of those when I get them.

i would get the SS one
you can usually knock on the side of the muffler and get an idea how it sounds.
this is why i like the magnaflow ones.. very solid, like the Racing Beat ones.
go test this sound for yourself go knock a tinny Apexi N1 and then a RB can..

not much diffrence I bet xept maybe a slight exhaust tone diffrence
I've had a 6" round muffler before (Dynomax Ultraflow <---loud)
I know I have room to fit a 7" round one
but those look great
and heavy duty!
gota Love Magnaflows!

I have a couple of dark camera phone pics from when I put a borla xr-1 3 inch in for a midpipe on my full 3 inch setup. I have not welded up the 4 inch setup yet because I still need some bends for the DP

Magnaflows are great. Another tech at work has a 72 240Z Datsun weighing 2475 lbs. stroked L28 inline 6 motor, 12:1 compression, cam, ported head and oversized valves, tripple webber 40 DCOE side draft carbs, 100 shot nos, Cannon intake manny, 6-1 hi flow header, 2.5 inch exhaust. He had a cheap muffler on it before and it rusted out and he just straight piped it and of course it was way too loud, so he got a Magnaflow muffler and you could see straight through it, he was thinking, this thing isnt going to quiet it down. After he put it on, the difference was night and day. It quieted it down ALOT. Awesome mufflers.
