Temporary fix for bad oil contol seals (reduce smoke)
My 93 JDM FD smokes heavily on decel only, from my research its my oil seals. My engine has no other problems and runs strong. I know that the engine has to be disassembled to replace the seals, but I am not able to afford it at the moment. I dont mind the oil consumption, its just the embarrasing smoke. Is there anything I could do to minimise it? Mabe thicker oil?
What I have been doing that helps, is to mash the clutch if decelerating from high RPMs to alow the engine to idle as the car slows.
It seems to be high vacum conditions (decel from high rpm) that sucks the oil leaked from the bad seals into the cumbustion chamber causing smoke. I think that if I could find some way to reduce vacum levels on decel, it would help.
What are your thoughts.

I posted in your other thread also.
Have you deleted your PCV? If not, maybe it failed. If you did delete it hopefully you didnt cap off both nipples on the Oil Filler Neck. Also try driving the car with the oil filler cap removed and see if that fixes things. Oil control ring failure is not real common.

It happened on mine. I got a rebuilt engine to fix it haha. As soon as I let off the throttle there was smoke, so every shift, every time at a stop light, and everytime i tried to let the engine slow the car down it bellowed smoke. After swapping the manifold to the new engine, and looking into the exhaust port there is no wonder why it smoked so bad, the rear rotor just gurgled oil when turning the engine by hand.

the only way to know for sure without removing the engine is to turn the car on without the turbos, thats what I did, but I have a single so it may be way more difficult for someone with stock twins.
