I have a question.......are those turbo maps off an RX7? If so....wouldn't you have to compare his whole setup to yours to find out if the map would be the same?
I just get a little confused when everyone starts saying one turbo is better than another. Isn't the right statement......Bolt-on turbo kit A is better than bolt-on turbo kit B for this power level with these specific mods. |
Kits are for people who don't mind paying too much for a sub-optimal setup for their specific application!

Well, I have owned both XS kits, the TO4S and TO4E. To be totally honest I like the TO4S a little bit better. You get used to the power coming on a bit later and the thing just pulls hard. I don't have a dyno comparrison of the two but I will eventually. With the TO4E I felt I had just gone a little over stock, (a lot of money for a little gain), I had more power but not really bone crushing power that just stuffs you back in your seat like I feel I have now.
Ken maybe your setup will work better than what I had? I know you did some research and you will be using water injection. I would like to have tried the KKK but way too much $ for me to take a chance on. Plus with the Garrett turbo I can have it modified anywhere, Innovative and turbonetics are 30 minutes from my house. And there are plenty of dealers everywhere. Ernie, hey I am glad for you and that you are happy, but I am very happy with the TO4S, and for the price.... I don't know if you can buy a better kit. Just as a side not. I personally don't really care for XS, but IMHO they have put together a nice kit and I give them credit for that. |

I wouldn't be so quick to tell ErnieT he didn't get 372 rwhp at the boost level.
I've been having fuel delivery issues with mine right now, but last week I put down 376 rwhp @ 10.5 psi at Arthur's Dyno in Marietta. Don't belive me? There were about five people from this forum there to see it. My a/f was at 12.5, which I will be dropping down, but my ignition was also way low (we had dropped it back when I was doing my break in miles). On prior engines - non ported, etc. at that boost level I would see around 320 rwhp. |
I have been reading these posts and I am suprized by some of the remarks. (1) The T-78 and the KKK are very comprable in hp. The KKK spools up a little quicker and makes 20-30 hp more at lower boost levels, peak is about the same. (2) Ernie has always been a straight forward rotary gear head like the rest of us and I have no reason to believe he lied. (Look at Roy's T-78 numbers in the post above mine, basically the same numbers so I would say he didn't.) Ernie is doing all of us a favor by posting his dyno #'s etc as others do, this gives us all a larger fact base of knowledge we can use when purchaing a single turbo set up. Thanks Ernie and others who do this. (3) If you decide the information is not credible then just don't believe it and move on, quit the personal attacks.. Chris

And you guys with the T78 kits......I didn't mean to crack on your turbo kit. Actually its one of the easiest and most complete kits on the market. I just got irritated when people actually thought I was BS.....I'll be tuning for around 17-18psi very shortly and will post the results. I hope to bust into the 10's running 18psi. I shoud be able too considering I ran 11.22 at 15lbs..(blowing up at the 1000' mark)

Ernie, I dont mean to pull your card or anything but here you say that you were running 13 psi. Now its 15 psi?! If you let off at 1000' then you have a 10 sec timeslip on your hands. Why would you need 18 psi to bust into the 10s?
