T04b compressor wheel and housing.

Would a turbonetics T04b standard shaft 60-1 compressor wheel with matching 4" inlet housing work with a stock turbine and internals? would a new backing plate be needed as well?

I am not certain but I believe a new back plate is needed for the To4b housing.

alrite..well..let me elaborate on my story.

I bought a "good" turbo that the turbine housing is more or less toast (can be fixed..but more money than i'd want to spend).

Is there any way to use the stock center (oil/coolant lines go into it) and upgrade the turbine/compressor and housing to T04b standards.

I paid 300 for this turbo..so im tryng to weigh my options to USE it while upgrading it at the same time.

Any recommendations short of just saying screw it and losing my 300?

Thanks.

Jeff

(BNR says they can do the stage 4 hybrid and put on a different turbine housing for 170 bux..ouch!

man, i just bought a brand new garrett turbo with a 1.15 divided turbine housing and a .60 compressor housing( i told him i wanted a .70 compressor housing per rice racings specs.....the dealer's fault- i pick up the .70 tomorrow) and he upgraded to the garrett 17 wheel (60 mm) for $525.00. i'll post a pic with .60 housing--has a 4" opening on it.

anyway, to answer your question, yes, you will have to get a new back plate....at least i had to from the original one that had the smaller wheel.
