Sump tank return line question

I just did a fuel tank sump however, my sump is about 2 1/4" at the deep end instead the instead of 3" it came with. I had to cut it for ground clearance.

My real question is,would it be an advantage to route the return line directly into the sump since the stock location is a distance away.Wound this help ensure that the sump always has fuel similar to the stock system.

Do you guys with the sump sys bother to do this?

When I sumped mine, I just extented my return line to the floor of the tank. It feeds 2 044's on e85 just fine.

Thanks for the reply, kinda figured i was on the right track. I did route it to the bottom of the sump.

Absolutely don't run the return near the pickup. Return fuel is heavily aerated.

I fed my fuel rail return back into the top of the sump and then added an overflow back to the fuel cell. I was concerned with the sump running dry and wanted to ensure it was always full. All my lines bringing fuel to the sump are mounted at an angle to encourage the fuel to swirl around teh sides and lose any retained air.
Works quite well.

^That's the correct way to do it.
