around $12-$15k in parts. You just dont know how much there is to type when these ?? are asked, so I just put up a price range. Go to the rx7 store and go to every catagory and buy something. That should get you and idea

how many miles are on you engine? I would have the engine rebiult and a heavy streetport. Its your chioce to go with 3mm seals than 2mm. Usually when 3mm break they screw up the rotor housing, but they last longer. It will be better to start biulding the car with the twins on it and then buy the turbo kit after you have all the bolt-ons..

hey guys i was just figuring out how much it came out, and i was under 10k. so with everyone saying 12-15k that must include someone doing the work on your car , huh?

I think when people say 12-15k, they're including an engine rebuild/streetport...
From what I've read it's just about impossible to run 500 rwhp safely on a stock motor.
If you're looking for what kind of internal engine mods you need, go to www.kdrotary.com or www.pineappleracing.com and check out the kind of reliability mods they do.

talk to some of the people that have gone single and have done it right.. 12-15k is right. If you do everything at once it will be cheaper. 500 rwhp isnt cheap.. I dont now anybody that has asked "what do I have to do", do the labor themselves. Sometimes its worth paying people to do the labor. You will have to do suspention upgrades to the car or else 500rwhp is going to slide into the wall or break something. btw 500 rwhp will get very exspensive in the long run. If you dont believe me it cost that much , start a thread asking "how much have you invested in you single turbo conversion", and Im sure that some poeple are going to mention well over 15k. more like 30,40,50k if they have been into rotories for awhile. If you want your engine rebiult talk to brian at bnr supercars, he does very nice work..

nope , no dowels. 12-15k will biuld the car, not just the motor..
turbo kit=3500
fmic=1400
ecu=you can get a haltech for like 1250 in australia
SP'd motor=3100
thats $9250 and thats just a start.

Ernie T: What I meant was that without a port, you're going to have to turn up the boost to get the same amount of power, and I thnk that you'd agree that with less boost you have less of a chance of popping your engine. You're probably going to say that with proper tuning.... Bottom line is it's easier to pop an engine @ 20 psi. than it is @ 15 psi. Plus, with upwards of 20+ psi of boost you're going to have to run some kind of avgas, or racing fuel.

Street-ported engine $5000, installed
Turbo kit $3500
Fuel injectors (maybe a rail) $400+
Fuel pump $300
Engine management $1500
IC $1500
Midpipe $200
Cat-back $500
Clutch $500
Tuning $500
That's about $14K and just gets you started. Yes, you can get the individual parts cheaper, but all the little costs (motor mount here, ignition amp there) adds up quickly. Add a few thousand for installation if you won't be doing it yourself and throw in another few thousand for all the crap that goes wrong or you decide to replace in the process. You'll also need new wheels and tires to put the power down and you'll want suspension and brake upgrades if you track the car (add another $5-10K+ for those).
You can do it cheaper, but not by much, and if you really "get the bug" you'll be throwing lots more money into it anyway. I am sure there are people that have done a successful conversion for less, but they are probably saving up for the next mod right now.

Ghost Ride the Whip
max, you forgot to include the price of the ignition amp, plugs and wires too. To get 500rwhp you need that to boost higher levels, so add another 500 on the list.
also if there are things that are initially wrong with your car those need to be fixed too before you can actually hit the dyno to get it tuned.

what I would do if I were you is buy the stage 5 upgrade for jason at the store. let brian do the motor at bnr super cars. If I where you I would go with the stage 2 twins that BNR has, there badass and alot cheaper than a single.

The CHEAPEST way to do it its this........
Go buy one thats already built!!!!!
Also, 500rwhp might really be much more than your looking for. What kind of 1/4 mile you looking for??? Do you know how fast a 500rwhp FD is???
