Series 5 single on my Series 6
Hi
recently my old twins have been getting pretty tired so I'm thinking about either getting sum new ones, rebuilding them or even better going single.
Now I've always wanted to go single because of the simplicity and cleanleness of the setup but I've never really wanted to go big ( i.e T51 sorta ****). What I ideally want is a single that can give me the same performance ( if not a little better) as my non-seq twins using the stock fuel system cos my FD is a street driven daily driver so big HP numbers was never my aim.
I found this TO4 with a Series 5 manifold setup for sale pretty cheap - - >

can anyone tell me wether the S5 manifold will bolt straight up to my FD? maybe some of you single turbo gurus can tell me wether this setup will give me any les or more power than my stock twins and wether my stock fuel system will handle this.
BTW - I dont plan on boosting anymore than the stock boost
cheers

Ive been dealing with FCs for many years before buying my FD, so hopefully I can help a bit. These hybrid stock FC turbos are pretty popular in the FC community, and can make some decent power, but IMO Id rather have a set of stock FD twins. This hybrid can probably make 350-375RWHP with the right tune, but you are still restricted to the stock hotside of the S5 turbine. Boost flow will drop off at higher RPM most likely, and you are going to have problems with boost creep, even with a hugely ported stock wastegate. Look up BlueTII and what he did to control creep on his large S5 hybrid. Im fairly sure this will bolt up to the FD engine no problem (FD LIM is thinner than FCs, so I dont see any fitment issues), but you are still going to have to do all the hassles that come with a single swap (fabbing downpipe and exhaust, oil lines, coolant lines) for an end result that isnt worth the trouble. Just pick up a good set of used twins for 1/2 the price.
