RX6 1/4-mile times? Another go of it.

There have been about 1.5 threads on this, and only one guy that I've seen that actually posted a time.

Anyone wanna enlighten me as to what kind of times I can expect once I'm fully tuned (waiting on my CWR oil coolers and then boosting it up!)?

I'm mildly street ported with intake, IC (SM), fuel pump - all these are upgraded. I'm expecting around 370rwhp, hopefully more.

TIA,

-E

The turbo doesn't make that much of a difference here. 380RWHP & 2800LBS could pull mid-high 11's with ET streets. 12s on street tires & mild clutch.

Put it to you this way:
Guys who still run the stock non-seq. can run low 11's. I've also seen guys w/T88s run high 12's and low 13's. So my point is -it's pure driver skill (and setup for the 1/4) there can easy be 100-200hp difference between a t88 and nonseq. twins. So why use 1/4 mile times to judge your turbo setup?
You should easily hit 370 rwp w/your setup if not more. I haven't run my setup down the 1/4 yet (and I missed the last event of the season this weekend) but when I had stock non.seq my best was 12.34@118mph.
Now I have about 50 more hp at the wheels so who knows? The car has no traction 1st or 2nd so I may do worse but will post a better mph. I can't afford to break more stuff because I want good 1/4 mile times so I won't go to ET drags or drop the clutch. But if want to, low 11's if you're good.

Ed,

Thanks. Definitely aware of the driver skill factor. Just wanted to see some posted times of the guys running the turbo.

Again, just for curiosity's sake...not judging the turbo by the 1/4-mile. It'll mainly be an autoX/street use car anyway, but a few trips to the strip are in order.

I'm also looking at running 18X10s in the rear, so hopefully I'll be getting quite a bit of extra grip (no race rubber though - gotta street the large tires, leave the R-compounds for autoX use).

I run an 18x9.5 on 285s....you'll still have problems. Unless I see that E-town or atco have a couple of more wed./fri night tune & run openings I don't think I'll have a time for you 'till the spring.
Maybe you'll have times by then?

BTW, it's an awesome street turbo-good luck

Thanks Ed,

I hear ya. So far, so great. I'm really impressed with the spool up on this thing.

I'm running at 7psi and ~280rwhp right now and I'm already having a blast and having traction issues. Can't wait for ~100 more horsepower on the ground!

No. It's Pettit's street port w/3mm seals. Dave @KDR thinks they went heavy on the port since vacuum is in the 12-14in. range. I run 10psi on the street mostly. I dyno'd 351@.78 bar (tuned) and never got a chance to dyno @ 15-18psi since my boost controller went. However, a couple of months prior I dyno'd (un-tuned) at 387rwhp@15psi at a friends shop.
Dave thinks with the new map I can now hit 400 @15psi easily. I plan to run water injection @20psi so who knows. My goal is 440rwhp..but if I never hit it I'll still say I'm very happy with the turbo as with all apex'i products (except the wastegate).

nice thread....

Im interested in seeing how you all do with this kit.

94sr2: interesting that you like your apexi products...I cant stand mine...the n1 dual melted the hell out of my rear end...and the power fc is junk at controlling my boost and reading boost etc...I dont ever want another apexi product again...except maybe the rx6 someday.

for now Ill deal with my m2 twins til apexi proves itself with the kit.

artguy:
Are you using the apexi boost control kit for controlling boost or are you using the stock WG solenoid?

I ran 11.67 @ 125 mph on nitto dr., and a 1.67 -60ft.
So low 11 is definately possible, with better slicks and launch.

I think this thread is kewl too! A friend of mine had his car built at MZM performance up in Austin, he still has the stock turbos, but they are running in parralel, and many more mods I forget and the best time he got was a 13.3....though that was the first time he went to the track with that car...hehe my 88 TII with stock turbo wieghing 2740, ran a 13.8 with 205s on the rear at 9 psi with a full exhaust, intake FCD, and fuel controller, I've got 720s on the way, an MBC, and also water injection, I hoping to hit the 12s at maybe around 12-15 psi, with some drag radials.......
