Reliable street setup

Im trying to find the ideal reliable pump gas street set up. My goal is 500-600whp. So far im looking into the HKS T51R KAI. (is there a diff with bb or not/if so how much). What would you suggest as for all mods? Im starting with a stock car. I would like this engine to last. Thanks

That is a very broad question. I would start by using the search function of the site. You can get plenty of ideas from that. As for the BB or non-BB, I'd say the biggest difference is the price, BB are much more expensive. Good luck with the search.

You will be more than pushing the boundaries of reliable at 600whp dude, especially on pump. At minimum you will need a ton of AI, and a well-built motor. Do you have access to E85?

If I were starting from scratch: GTX4294R (or one of the precision billett options), E85, Xcessive Manifold, lots of fuel, large street port (maybe a bridge), Haltech platinum sport 2000, and all the other little ****.

If you are going for that much power with reliability you are going to be pulling out all the cards.

-heat insulation in every single possible area of the motor.
-get an electric water pump, and a real nice radiator to go with it.
-a nice effective v-mount setup with very well made ducting, so none of that excess air goes into the engine bay.
-a big, free flowing exhaust system, for the least back pressure you can possible deal with.
-there are plenty of turbos that will suite that horsepower level, but i think your best bet would be twin t04zs which will really help your engine run cool.
-both of these turbos will need pre-turbo water injection, and LOTS of water.
-a large street port at a minimum, a bridge will help you get there on lower boost levels. you will really keep that boost low for the power you're getting if you decide to make it a semi-pp, or even a pp.
-get a pro-J intake mani. it will help you make power.
-dual oil coolers.
-hell, try running the fuel through a cooler as well, might help some.

never forget that this is a lot of power, so chances are it is all a waste if you don't have equally big plans for the drivetrain!

those are just some suggestions, hope they help.. good luck!

To start with the turbo, something like the new Garrett GTX4294R or GTX4202R, or the Precision billet 71 or 72mm. Ball bearing turbos will outlast journal, but you pay for the difference. I know some places in FL have E85, so if you dont know where to find it, start looking. Otherwise meth injection will be your safety net. A large port, good fuel system, and so on. I recommend A-Spec or another sponsor build your motor, and have Crispeed tune it because hes local to you.

Define reliable? Your biggest issue for reliability will be engine build and tune. Get everything clearanced properly and balanced, and get it done by someone who has made multiple engines at that power level. We have engines here with roughly 900fwhp or more, that have made too many passes/pulls to count and still are making 100psi on compression. Clearancing and balancing are key to that. Worry about this stuff first then what ECU, what turbo, what ignition.

A ideal street turbo for that power level would be something along the size of a 4294 with decent port work your goal would be easy to achieve. Your limits will be fuel, tune, and level of engine build. If those are right you should have a solid car.

First- what kind of budget do you have?
2nd- who's doing the work? Time frame?
3rd- Have you been in a 500hp FD?
4th- Have you researched everything that's required? From the wheels up?

Not to sound negative, but there's more to this than, just putting on a big
turbo.

Now, do it right the first time and don't cut any corners,
and you will have a great, fast, and reliable car!!

1) havent figured it out yet, just trying to come up with an estimate cost now to see if its a go.
2) I plan on doing some of the work myself/ No specific time frame, gunna be a weekend car.
3) nope lol
4) Ive been doing research but I keep on learning other ways of doing things, thats why I came to the forums and to those with experience.

Now doing things right has always been my moto, I dont plan on taking backward steps in the future.

Thanks

By the way, I think im tuning down my idea to 500whp, I think that will be plenty!

What is the fastest rwd street tired car you have been in? Does this car actually have time slip to back it up? Talk and dyno sheets don't really mean anything..
500rwhp is a lot.. Do you have at least 20k to throw at this project?

Agreed... 500whp would have you in the 10's...

What else do you really want from a street car...

Prepare for rebuilds when you are talking about your desired numbers...
