I wasn't saying that my HKS T51R KAI was made for low boost applications. I was just saying that it does pretty good for how big it is. I agree that the turbo hasn't even began to wake up with only 10 psi. I don't think that it's non streetable though. I had the Greddy T88 before this one and it was booring to drive at low boost.
I run low boost on the street because that's going to be plenty for 95% of the cars you'll run into anyways but, I save the bigger boost for the track.
I was saying before that I had no problem beating smaller turbo RX7's or even twin turbo RX7's (Even from down low). Maybe the RX7's I'm racing against are turds, hell I dunno. Maybe I'm just a picky racer. I won't race you unless I'm in my power band and if I race you from a stop I'll drop it at 7G to make sure I'm in my power band. I know what and what not to do when racing, I think that's plus for me

The funny thing is you know I agree with you.
If you stay in your "band" then its all good, but most people hate having to do this and expect to have some decent power when they mash the gas peddal @ 4k rpm's.
That as you know wont happen with the Turbos "we" like. On the other had the slight delay in mid range power is good for traction in 1st and 2nd gear too when running on the street.

Resource, just curiuos but what is your peak HP running 10 psi and what has been your peak HP ever. I am new to this forum and have had my FD for about 2 months and am itchin for more power. Lookin at running a t51r spl. I have been getting mods for the car before I had it and am looking into single turbos now. Can you give me an advice on the pros and cons on that turbo. Thanks

I am also going single turbo on my FD. I am not sure what turbo to use aswell.
I have looked alot into that T51R. Its just happens to be the most expensive kit out there for the FD...wonder if its really worth the money?
I am looking in the range of 450-475 rwhp.
Anyone have the gt35/40? or the GT40R...

For the newbz...
425+ usually means racegas... lots of people don't understand that... also... that T51 is friggin huge!
To be able to use it expect a good $7+k pricetag on the whole ordeal. My car (TA45CR... aka T04R) has so much **** done to it I can't even remember anymore. I'm running out of fuel on the top end and need even more fuel than the 1600's can put out on one pump... I'm in the 425+ area... I wanted to do a rebuild soon to get my motor strong again but outa cash. Single turbos can be quite fun if you build it right from the beginning. Lots of people say... oh.. I'm gonna do this and that... then once they do it all quickly... the spin the car into a pole. Sometimes its best to do some light stuff first to get the hang of stuff before you hurt someone.
