pt67 questions

im purchasing a 67, just wondering which trim would be best for a street port motor, along with which a/r would be best.

Go with the .81 a/r. Like I've said before. There are already two members on here that have put down over 500rwhp with that and P trim. I thought you were on stock ports? Either way, go with the smaller a/r to keep the lag to a minimum.

.81 P trim is good for over 500rwhp on a small street port, here is a link to a couple of dynos. 450@18psi, 480@20, 500+ @22-23. Fast spool for a cast manifold IMHO. You will have a hell of a time hooking up more than 400rwhp without R compound ties anyway. With a 5000 rpm dump I tore 2, foot wide, 10' long holes in the pavement, my neighbors just love my car hobby That was with 13" wide slicks... the Q trim will spool several hundred RPM slower at least with better top end. The anti surge cover will simply slow your spool down, and has no application for us since rotaries flow plenty to keep from surging on this turbo. One other nice thing about the .81 P trim is that it is a relatively small turbo, very easy to work around.

Andy, if you haven't exactly made up your mind, I'm selling my 61r. Let me know if you're still interested.

Carl...

I'm aware of your set up and kabooski's... though, I'm still concern about your MAP requirements to achieve the numbers you are getting. My 1st set-up was a 62-1 compressor and .84 P-Trim with T3 inlet. I did 430 rwhp with that set-up and was getting boost at very low rpms 2800-3000 ...but almost needed 25 psi... makes kind of since due to the T3 inlet (backpressure) but was always concern though...

I switch to T-72 T4 .81 P-trim, did my homework searching here and estimating numbers with the compressor map, already did 439 rwhp....but again.... I needed 27 psi...

Reading through threads here looks like large compressors works better in big pressure ratios (over 30 psi), but looking at the compressor map, the compressor should be able to pull 70-80 lbs/min right on the pressure raio I'm now (3.0) with my current a/r (.81)...

I did another dyno pull later at 30 psi and did get 467 @ 5000 rpms but I have a 3bar MAP sensor so the boost spikes hold the run, so I was not able to see what was coming after 5000 rpms... the graph was going almost vertical so looks like indeed large compressors needs a lot of boost to work better...

Finally my question is.... based on your numbers ...what is the missing variable that looks like you both could flow such air quantiy and produce relatively large whp numbers with small a/r ratio and the same exhaust wheel? ... if I don't remember wrong... Kabooski's numbers were 519@19 psi??? ,,, tuning is not the variable (Gaby-Sporty helps with my tuning ;-)... is the PT67 that good? is the exhaust diameter (I'm using 3") ... I'm mid-range street port...

i will really appreciate you FB (or kabooski's),,, I just would like to figure out your numbers and keep the trial/error to get the ideal set up ... I just installed my v-band to test different a/r's and keep getting more info...

any thoughts are welcome! thx!

519hp at 19psi from a 67mm wheel? That's pretty good....

It's feasable considering my 61mm compressor does the same at 22-23psi.

i doubt they were using alc injection, prolly just some 110 ocatane fuel.
