as a side note, both Sean and Ryan from A-Spec were very kind to me and gave me some guidance. Far beyond their obligations. Its for reasons like that, I waited for a single kit for sale gently used and had to be A-spec. :-D

Your kit is making new ones for me lol And yes they are all good.
I almost dont want Ryan to sell me the oil feed and return lines. The engine block is so beautiful now, i dont want to make it operational and drive it...
Its so weird to work on all these parts out of the car. Then you realize they are supposed to go back in. IDK its my first build so its mesmerizing.

yes and no. If you look at the rats nest its divided into three things BASICALLY. (i dont want to get flamed so ill make disclaimers)
1) sequential controls. most of it
2) Emissions controls
3) fuel pressure something. its one solenoid
so when going single, i got rid of most of the nest with #1, i blocked off all the emissions and air pump so goodbye #2 and i have an aftermarket Fuel pressure regulator so sayonara #3.
I also was pretty sure i wouldnt be reinstalling those components so i gutted and cleaned up my wiring harness. all of its connectors added to the mess of rats nest.

So for me, I can say bye to #1 because I'm going single. Then for #2, what does the emissions controls control? I am guessing that since I am going single, I'll never be able to "pass smog" in California, so I should be able to eliminate these too? And then Fuel pressure I am buying a FPR with my fuel kit, so will that replace it?
Thanks again for your help!

nice work bud. im trying to learn more about these twin to single changes which your thread seems to answer most of my questions. when you have a chance can you show what connecters will be needed on the harness.

From my research, people like crispyrx7 keep their airpump and gear all in and pass. but that is the exception rather than the rule.
if you look up grimple's write up on wiring harness for single turbo cars, he identifies all the things in the rats nest from a harness stand point. I kept the same things he did. and removed the same things he did.
There is discussion on things like EGR and Charcoal canister blah blah blah. I felt like erroring on the side of simplification. I also accidentally cut my charcoal can line while making my 6an fuel line so its open to be a secondary fuel line or whatever.

i believe i comment and add to that thread actually. It takes some experience with electronics and confidence in wiring.
I recommend making a check list and label each one based on their wire colors (if stock) and ID all of them. Then go through that list and cross off the ones you dont want, and cut them. THEN, review the list.
I had one extra (thank god than the opposite scenario) that i had to cut. you will see it in the pics as it has blue wrap on it. even though its cut.

great question. I have a base map from a reputable group. Im not name dropping because if i blow my engine at a later date for any reason, i dont want anyone to blame them. Its a starting point for me to idle and drive my car to a good place.
I have the wideband and datalogit, so i will be sure to tune the base load stuff. I trust my self up to 1-2 PSI. If the car is done way before DGRR i will have it tuned by someone like the infamous Steve Kan or the likes before the event.
I have no experience with rx-7s over 8psi driving or tuning.
The wastegate spring is set to 15psi and im staying under there until i get comfortable and tuned, then ill venture past that.

Thank you for your write up. both that and grimple1's engine harness writeup enabled me to begin this project. If we ever make it to the same rotary meet, ill buy you a drink.
