powdercoat the hotside?

Was wondering if you can powdercoat the hotside of a turbo? I would like to do something but the jethot is expensive and there is a powder coat place not far from me. Is this a viable option or is there too much heat?

Hmmm... I'm not sure. I know you have to bake on powdercoat, but the hotside of a turbo might be TOO hot.. 93BlackFD (I think) does Powdercoating.. Maybe you can ask him?

Powder coat will drip off and make a mess with the temps of a turbine, even piston turbine housings. NO POWDER COATING! Ceramic will work fine, if its specific for the application.

yeah, when you originally bake it on, it's only at 450 deg F. hot turbo=bad

hey i got a quick question, sense we are on the topic of powdercoating. if you powdercoat the intake manifold, is that bad? im just thinking because it might hold heat in like getting it chrome dipped. let me know if i can because im thinking of doing this.

Jethot is the way to go. It's not that expensive at all when you consider how great it works. While you're getting the turbine housing coated, you should seriously think about sending off your DP as well. It's amazing at the difference you'll notice in temps under the hood. Then again I'm pretty much paranoid about the heat issue. Never can be too safe.
