New turbo making whistle at idle after 20 minutes run time
I purchased a GT3574 kit late last winter for my 10 AE. I worked all last summer getting the 7 and my chevelle going and was able to get the car started just before this past winter started and then it sat.
I got it fired up again a few days ago and have been working on tuning in the microtech at idle and part throttle in neutral. After about 10 minutes or so of idling the car was at 190F and then I started to hear a loud 6000hz or so whistle. Over the past few start ups and this time the car has maybe 20 minutes of run time. The whistle sounds like its coming from the turbo but is sort of hard to pin point. Although, I shut it off and the whistle quickly dies down and goes away but the turbine is still spinning and stops spinning after about 10 seconds or so. The turbo housing and IC pipe were pretty warm.
I pulled the oil feed line and started the car real quick and got a healthy dose of oil, so it seems the turbo is getting oil. I didn't pull the coolant line. On a side note the wastegate is installed but I don't have the vac lines hooked up to it yet. The engine is original with ~50k miles on it. I just check compression and have 110 front and rear. Aside from the computer being untuned it idles pretty good with 18" vac at 800 rpm
I'll probably send the car to A-spec before I get really mad and do something stupid. But curious if you guys have any ideas.
