New GT40R Dyno numbers!

What's a ton of money? I'm in the process of replacing my ACT as well. N-Tech convinced me to try the RPS Max series with a 6 puck sprung hub but they're back-ordered til mid December. Ended up with the Exedy Hyper Single. If you need a lightweight flywheel with a replaceable liner, let me know, I have a 9.5lb. aluminum SR flywheel for sale :-) Oh the RPS was under $600 and the Exedy was $900 through rotaryextreme.com I'd maybe consider another ACT Extreme with someone else's 6 puck sprung hub. I'm assuming you were using an organic disk with the ACT?

Yes on the organic. Already have pettit's 9.5lb flywheel. I guess around a 1k is fine.... To be honest I had not looked into it yet and have no idea on the prices.. Mike

Exedy is a nice clutch for sure, but its $$$.
That clutch you were using would probably have held up find on the street or road course, ect like Cam does with his car. But if you want to launch at 6K on slicks your going to need something a little more extreme. The Exedy would be real nice if you want to spend the money. Also, SPEC makes nice clutches and they have one thats supposed to be good for 500lbs of tq and decent petal feel. If your interested in talking to them thier website is http://www.specclutch.com/specMain.html All the V8 guys rave about them, if you do some goodle searches you'll find a lot of info from V8 guys. I've had one in my car for a few years and it held up great but I havent really abused it very much at the track. They are out of B'ham so you can come down and check them out if you want to. Real nice people.
With that big single and you being into drag racing you might want to consider going back to the stock flywheel. It'll really help out your 60 foot and any bogging issues.

That's from only 6000Km of usage...no drag...all to/from/at autox.

Yeah, thought about going back to the stock flywheel but I did not get it back from Cam when he changed it... Also I still enjoy playing on the street and still want to do a few track days... I will check out SPEC. Thanks, Mike

If you decide you want to go back to stock I'm sure someone will give you thier stocker and some money. Heck, you might get enough money to pay for 1/2 of the new clutch!!!
I havent talked to anyone at Spec in a long while. Let us know what all thier new rx7 clutches are looking like.
BTW - The owners son-in-law works there and he drove a FD for years. His name is David, he might even be the person you talk to cause I think he handles a lot of the sales.

Vac leak fixxed.. Talked with SPEC seems they have a stage 3 for the 3rd gen. Unless I run into a good deal on an Excedy Hyper then this will be the route I will take. Mike

Sk8world, check with Chuck at www.rotaryextreme.com He is running REALLY good deals on Exedy hyper singles right now. Just thought I'd throw that out there for you.

I have the Exedy installed and so far so good. I am breaking it in for 500 miles so boost has been limited. Some adjustments to driving style/launch are necessary but it's a very, very nice setup. I should have 500 on her by Monday at which point I'll unleash the boost.

3000 --- 190 --- 135
3500 --- 210 --- 170
4000 --- 245 --- 215
4500 --- 250 --- 250
And the 35R numbers would be at least 10% higher on the dynojet the 40R was tested on, for even more low end torque advantage.
If you are happy with 400 rwhp at ~16 psi, and also want good low end for street use, the 35R is a no brainer. For more top end hp and mostly race use, 40R.
To get the 400 at low boost, street porting would help either turbo.

Lag will be very little on either one. 400 at 15psi on stock ports leaves only the 35r choice for you. No one is making 400 at 15 psi with the 40r. A little more lag try the t78. One on the parts section for sale now. Other wise go with Sean's 35r kit. He has them on special right now. Great quaility! You will be happy you bought it. As long as 400 to 450 is your goal.

Just a quick update, the Exedy holds the power just fine. Maybe too fine...I'm now contemplating R-spec rubber to put the power down to the ground! Either PZero Corsas or the Dunlop supersports. It's that much of a difference over the ACT...Whereas it would hold all the way through second gear with no wheelspin, I now have wheelspin in 2nd as the engine goes past 4K rpm. Clutch really holds the power well and the sprung hub helps take some of the driveline shock away. The shifts are substantially quicker. Will do a full writeup here in a bit.
