Need advice with going single

Ok heres the deal I need new turbos becouse myne are smoking really bad. So I was wondering what kind of turbo to go with I am not shooting for astronomical numbers just something that would have good spool and nice top end when ever I feel the need for speed. I was thinking of GT35R but not really know anything about it if some of you more experianced people on here could guid me in the right direction I would greatlly apreciate it.

well I dont want a **** load of power this is a drive it tothe montains car so I dont need half way into the turn uphill for the turbo to spool and make the rear end go wild. I need a cheap yet reliable way out of this I was planing on puting some 99spec on my car but then after considering the cost of them and the cost of going single since the 99 cost aobut 2300bucks and rx7store has a GT35R kit for like 2600 why not plus I know those things still have a preaty decent spool up time and can make good power. The motor that I have right now is just a stock rebuild so something that wouldnt kill it would be nice and so I would have to upgrade a whole lot of other stuff while I am at it I am kinda on a budget here so I just hope the turbos will hold long enought for me to get a skyline beocuse if they dont I will have to put the turbo on the FD and no more skyline becouse that would suck some major ***. So thats my plans so far.

I don't think that you have any idea about how much it costs to go single turbo. What you can do though is buy someone elses used turbo. Oh wait you are in luck. I am getting mine taken off next week, because I am going single turbo. The stock turbos on my car are working fine also. I will sell them to you for whatever the going rate is. You cant just bolt on a single turbo and hit the road. You need all the supporting mods, which cost an arm and leg.
If you are curious about how much I am talking about price wise for the single. Here are some of the things you need:
Turbo kit (depends on what and where you get it) mine is aspec 500r-$3700
Power fc-$900
fuel system-$700
intercooler(for a good one)-$1300
bov-$200
tuning and installation from a rotary shop-$1500
boost controller-$350
radiator-$300

You didn't list your mods, but I would guess that there is a lot more you need also.

Send me a pm if you would like to buy my old turbos.

the things I need is turbo some 1600cc injectors fuel rail FPR I already have a 280lph fuel pump and a Greddy 2 row intercooler witch would be plenty for the time being. I have a power FC and a comander I have swaped my stock radiator already for one that is about twice the size of the stock one the only things I would need is BOV turbo fuel and a boost controler. I will do all the work myself becouse I have the tools and the how to to do it all plus one of my friends is a mechanic he has a FD with a GT35R that he put in the himself so thats the plan so far.

and that is only the beginning!! I mean those are the big items...but every weekend you will find yourself at the autoparts store looking for this or that. Or at Sears, getting this tool or that tool.

Ask GoRacer how much he has spent... Or me... I spent at ton...somewhere around $5500 and I had the intercooler, and other parts...installed and tuned it myself (which was $2800 of what was listed above)

It is not cheap.

I am exactly where you are at. Tired of rebuilding my OEM turbos so I'm wagering what else I need to go single.

Mods that I have that I know can be used on a gt35/40 at 12 psi MAX.
Mild streetport
PFS SMIC
MP
RB dual catback
Power FC
Greedy profec B spec II boost controller
Walboro fuel pump.

Things that I think I need:
Turbo
DP
wastegate
BOV
CAI Intake
Fuel rail
Injectors
3 bar map sensor? (I just found out about this)

I don't know what else... Still searching.

I have bin looking around and all I found that rx7store.net has the GT35R kit for like 2600 bucks witch its is a lot cheaper than anywhere else I have found it at about a gran cheaper to be exact. So I was thinking just getting the kit and the fuel with the boost controler maybe and runing like 8psi that way I dont stress everything and would postpone the need for the other stuff. What does the 3 bar map sensor does becouse i have no clue what it is or what it is used for since I drive a carb FB and all that is not an isue for me I was going to replace the turbos on the car but I am like you just getting tired of that that is like a visit to your mother in laws you can put it off but eventually you are going to have to do it its that it will cost al ot more in the long run than just going ahead and doing it now.

honestly, for your price range and goals just buy the guys used turbos for a few hundred dollars. if you really want to spend more, look at the BNR twins. they bolt right on with an afternoon's worth of work and will work well. if you are having other boost/vacuum solenoid issues, go non-sequential.

going single ain't easy. besides the cost is the downtime and hunting down miscellaneous BS. you said you wanted a skyline anyway. save your money for that.
