My T04z FC Build

So this is my white FC that I've owned for about five years now. Over that time the car has seen various upgrades such as a rebuilt ported motor from Pineapple racing (after my original with 97kmiles died on me after my first drift event), Cusco coilovers and Volk ce28n's (see here https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=661981), an Apex'I PowerFC, and a few other little things here and there. However, none of these mods have added a significant amount of power to the car - as I've always been running the stock turbo on stock boost. Time for a paradigm shift. Being that I just graduated from university in June, I decided that it was time for a graduation present - to myself.

So in this picture we have:
Garrett T04Z turbo
Apex'I AVC-R
ACT Flywheel
Bosch 044 fuel pump
Kenne Bell Boost-a-pump
Aeromtive FPR
Marren 1680cc injectors
Magnaflow 4" muffler
NGK Powerdex Wideband O2 system
Defi BF series EGT gauge
Universal 31x12x4 intercooler

Not pictured:
R-Magic turbo manifold
Greddy FMIC piping
Turbonetics godzilla BOV
Tial 44mm wastegate
ACT Xtreme 6-puck clutch
FJO injector pulse converter
Boost Logic turbo blanket
Magnaflow 4" y-pipe (I want to keep dual exhausts)
PowerFC datalogger
HKS twin-power ignition amp

So here's how the engine bay looked when I started:

fairly basic, but not too shabby.

At the end of work on day 1:

I stopped there because I had to take the fuel rails to a machine shop to get them modified to accept -AN fittings for the external FPR setup.

Additional info: Its getting tuned by Steve Kan on the 27th of this month so I have 8 days to put it all together! Wish me luck guys!!!!

congratulations on your graduation!

an excellent way to reward yourself... i see you have a Kenne Bell BAP. v smart. i have run mine w a nippondenso cosmo pump and it has run my 850/1600 injectors to 90+% duty cycle w zero drop off in fuel pressure at the +20% gain setting.

say hi to Steve.

thanks for the kind words guys.

Howard, you can single handedly take the credit for my purchases of the Boost-a-pump and the FJO injector driver. After reading your posts regarding those two items I was sold instantaneously.

So I've made a little bit of progress over the past couple days - mostly in the form of mock-ups. Still waiting on a few key parts before i can really start putting it all back together, but tracking numbers say that they'll be here on time. Here's a couple pics for now:

My old crappy BS exhaust that was on the car since I bought it (80mm downpipe, 70mm midpipe, stock y-pipe to aftermarket mufflers - wtf?)

A little progress - IC core mounted, piping holes cut, compressor and turbine housings still need to be clocked accordingly (I'll be doing that after this post)

New fuel pump wiring - which feeds into the Kenne Bell Boost-a-pump

Tial 44mm wastegate on the manifold - I'll take more pics after heat-wrapping it

And finally my BDC ported throttle body (vs the original)

more to come...

Hey nice looking build!

See you're running the PR oil pan too, one of my favourite parts of my engine

Pretty neat little FC you've got, should be a riot on the 67mm turbo

thanks for the reminder SS

here's a pic of what it ended up looking like:

fun for a little while, but unfortunately I was running an S4 rear iron which cracked at around 15psi. i didn't get it shut down in time to save the internals so basically my keg was shot. I'm currently reworking the setup with a 1/2 bridge 13B-RE but keeping all of my old accessories. I'm hoping to get it fired within the next week or two but my motivation has been seriously lacking as of late, especially with it being summer now and having my gixxer.

the only major change i'm planning for the setup is the addition of AI (50/50 water/meth), pics to follow

Sorry to hear the bad news. Trust me, I know how it feels. :/

I was wondering if I could get some more details on your turbo's oil return line. The blue one. I am tired of my very rigid braided stainless steal, and like the way yours looks flexible. Any info would be cool.

Thanks
~Tweak

(P.S. I was JUST in portland for a mini vacation with my g/f. I so should have got a ride. :P)

Tweak.

Don't know exactly what he's using there, but it looks exactly like the silicone drain hose I used to use on my old setup. This stuff works great.

http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me..._Code=ATP-OIL1

I wrapped mine where it ran under the turbo out of pure fear/paranoia/OCD but I'm sure it would have been fine without.
