More gt35/40 vs. T-78 stuff
I have a t-78 setup but still need to purchase an intercooler and engine management (waiting on the Haltec E11 and hoping its worth the wait, as well as waiting to see if anyone works out a good intercooler/vented hood combo) before its up and running. A couple of my friends have the gt35/40 kits on the way. One guy is bridgeporting his engine so I will put him in the "untouchable" category for now. The other has a stock rebuilt motor with a few thousand miles, and I have the stock motor with 39,00 miles. I plan on getting a large street port when the time (and money...haha) for a rebuild comes, but in the meantime I want to know how the two turbos will compare. Will he spool up and leave me? I hope not! If the gt35/40 ends up being a much better turbo, after dynos have been posted and the like, what would be involved in swapping a T-78 to a gt35/40? Will the greddy downpipe and manifold work with the 35/40? I know I would have to convert the greddy dp to v-band but other than that are they equal lengths etc? I love the Greddy ss manifold and don't plan on switching if I can help it.

I just finished a conversion from a T04 based (62-1) turbo to the T3 based (GT35/40).
You may need to weld an adapter flange on the exhaust manifold since I doubt you have room to torque the studs into the adapter (from the engine side of the turbine flange).
My HKS SS exhaust manifold piping were too close to the backside of the flange. I welded it on, but I'm sure it'll get re-visited.
