Match Made in Heaven; Garrett T04E & MoTeC M2R
I've been building my FC3S for two years now. First priority was the motor. I wanted a 2 rotor that could handle what ever I throw at it. That was a long road, but I finally got there. You can follow that progress HERE.
After 2 years, I've finally made the jump. The power-house is a Garrett T04E 57 trim. 0.6 AR compressor, 1.24 AR turbine.
It's a 3.5" downpipe, still needs to be coated. And a Turblown tubular 321 steel manifold. It's got the polydyn coating that most of my motor has, but the picture below is before the coating.
Tial 38mm wastegate, set to 9 psi.
Oh ya, no intercooler. ha ha. Right now I am running some tests on water injection, water/meth injection, and just straight methanol.
So far, with just the water test, I never saw intake temps over 150* F, 9 psi. More test on the way.
I am also in the process of upgrading my fuel system. With some preliminary runs, I maxed out the 550cc primary/750cc secondary system. In 4th and 5th gear, this system is fine (9 psi), but third gear was a little scary, so I never tried 1st or 2nd.

I run water/alcohol + intercooler. But I'm obviously boosting much more than 9psi. When all said and done I should be around 20-23psi on pump + methanol.
Have to swing by and go for a ride sometime.

For sure. I am a little light on the throttle right now (need better fuel system)
But I am expecting to run 15psi once I get the new set up. I also hope to add another stage to the aux inj system.

What are you "projecting" to make on this methanol and pump gas setup? Are you going for bragging rights on pump and alcohol or actually going to be using this as a daily driven fun street car with race gas power on pump? I know you were going back and fourth on turbo selections and correct me if I am wrong but you went with a T51? Are we going to see this run on straight race gas as well to see what it can do, and when do you think it will be done? I saw where you said you ran 24 lbs of boost on 91 octane with no methanol or water injection, how much whp and tq did that make and I assume that was conservative considering the detonation prone pump gas. Some would even call BS and your motor was probably detonating and if it wasnt, than it wasnt making that much power since the timing had to be really conservative and the a/f has a nice cushion.

WOW... just wow. I'm new to the big turbo club so I don't know if there are some rivalries/vendettas. But can we please keep THIS thread on topic. I just want to talk about MoTeC and and Garrett T04E, with 2 stage methanol and 1600cc secondaries... That's all.

I am just doing tests with the different options, I mean, with the stock intercooler, temps were a little over 100... I'll post some numbers on the water/meth temps.
My boost response is pretty nice. I like have an option in psi. The stock turbo is 'on or off'. But this new turbo is has a nice range. I reach full boost at 3500 RPMs, and that's with a 2.5" muffler-back. Could be better, but not a major concearn right now.

Could it be an atomization issue? What jets are you using? how soon does the water comes up?

water comes on at 6psi. i know the injector is pretty small. I am putting another one post-turbo, which will be a little larger. I dont have the specs on the inj in front of me.
I realize it's high, but this was the HOTTEST temps I saw. typically, I was seeing about 90*F.
ha - ha ... It's a nice upgrade from stock
What are you running? I see big turbo but no spec...
thanks guys

Cute little turbo.

So i did some test after putting the 1600's in... wow... fun car!!
Went out tuning on Saturday night. I ran just water, and was seeing about the same intake temps (32-65* C)
I went up to the shop and did a 50/50 mix. Water/meth.
I am still running just the one injector, pre-turbo, and it's a small one.
Dropped the temps about 15* C (17*-50* C)
So looking at an average of about 90* F. Still looking to get better, but with what I have, it's looking pretty good.
Now that I can boost in lower gears, I have to relearn how to drive. The power band is in a totally different area that the stock turbo... But when I hit it, it roasted the tires SO easily. It felt like there was a stick of butter under my rear tires!!
