Lets talk fuel systems for a single setup
What I will be doing sooner or later, is going single. Probably a To4s, and shoot for around 400rwhp. Here's what I'm planning: In-tank nippendenso (Rx-7 store sells it) good for 500hp, a set of 1600s, and 850s for primarys. XS fuel pressure regulator. Some upgraded fuel lines, but what size? And do you have to upgrade the return line?
Like I said, I want the car to make around 400rwhp, but the fuel system good for 500. Any advice? Thanks, CJ

You can still run the stock fuel lines or fuel line size but lets face it, going bigger can't hurt..... I have -8 lines. My buddy did -10. I think -8 is fine for that hp window. As far as fuel pumps Bosch has an intank fuel pump for 175.00 that wil support 600hp. I bought 2 of them and they work real nice. I'm going to ditch the mid-pump though.... My friend runs a Vette tune shop and they run these in there all out 600plus hp race Vettes.....

I think the www.tpis.com site has a photo of the fuel pump...They also have a new Bosch pump that will take care of 800hp for around 300.00 I think...

Good to hear those bosch pumps are up to the task. I got a second hand one from them that was just run on their test bench. I figured for $40 I couldent go wrong.

Setzep,
yup, thats Terry alright.......He still has the 87 TII also, and last I heard he was installing an LT-1 motor in it.....well, go figure....If I had access to a tun'n farm like TPIS I'd V-8 it too... I think ...... I have around 450rwhp and they work great and there cheap and easy to get also.....Big plus

I ran into a problem last year using the Supra fuel pump and stock lines: I wasn't able to run over 15lbs. of boost with my T-78 and Haltech no matter what I did to the fuel maps. The fuel pressure would start to drop beyond 6000 rpm. At least it still made 410rwhp on a Mustang dyno. I suspected the pump and perhaps the fuel lines so I went to an Aeromotive A1000 and -8 lines (-10 from the tank to the pump, -6 return) and now the fuel problem is definitely gone. Now I just have to fix a misfire!!!

got any pics? where did you mount the pump? i was leaning twords the driverside next to the fuel tank. i remember seeing it this way in the past and think it is ideal.
how did you modify your fuel tank?

I talked to the Aeromotive people and they sid there was no problem with mounting it in the tank. It keeps the pump cooler and the fuel quitets the pump down some.

I run the stock pump and an extra 255 walbro strapped to the stock in the tank. I used the metal return going into the tank for my second pump and braised a new metal return in. I then teed both feed lines together to a -8 line that runs to the front, i left the return line stock. I have been fine so far up to 19psi on a t64. One of the things that i realized is that it makes a huge difference if you upgrade the wiring i run a 10gauge power wire to both pumps, and match it with a 10 gauge ground. The reason why i went this route is so that it can remain stock appearing since it is a street car not to mention that the 255 walbro pump is only $129 retail......
Just My 2 cents
Good Luck

I mounted it on the rear suspension subframe in front of the tank (see pic). Not too many other spots to put it. I had the tank sumped to that it would gravity feed the pump.

I also run a 10 guage wire straight from the battery so that the voltage doesn't drop to the pump. If you look at the performance of each pump, it's directly related to voltage so more = more fuel flow!
Here's a pic of the sump on the tank, it's pretty close to the ground and the fuel filter has touched down but so far so good.

is it realy needed to run BOTH of their filters? if so, why?(for the a1000) i have the 100micron one for before the pump, but they recomend using the 10micron one after it also.
i also ran a 10guage wire direct to the pump from haltech. i have a steel AN fitting welded into the stock plate at the top for a return with a tube connected to it to send lower in the tank.
i believe i read somewhere a while ago that it IS needed to run BOTH filters. i realy dont feel like spending another $80 on this damn fuel system, but if i have to i will ...any comments?

The 100 micron is to protect your pump from any sediment in the tank. Your factory pump had that silly little sock filter. I imagine they use a 100 micron on the suction side because it is less restrictive than the 10 and your pump can handle bigger particles than your injectors and engine.
I have my own question too. If I want to use a second in-tank pump, can I splice it in after the fuel pump relay and fuel pump resistor on an FD? I would like to take advantage of the lower voltage to make my pumps last longer, but will I be pulling too much current for this circuit? I'm talking about using 2 Supra pumps, but I don't know how much current they pull. BTW new Supra pump from Toyota costs half what a new FD pump from Mazda costs.
