leak at my v-band

leak at my v-band

i have a leak from my turbo to my downpipe... i'm using a v-band, and wonder if you guys know how i might fix it... should i just tighten it really really hard or is there some other way i can stop the leak? thanks

A small leak is common, not to worry. If the flanges are flat, and tight to each other, the only thing you can do is bend the "v" part of the clamp smaller. Careful not to break the spot welds. Carl

Make sure to check the pipe flange itself. They like to crack right at the inside edge. Pull your clamp off and have a look.

I've heard of people using a Hitemp sealer around the lock........true/myth?????

I don't know if any of that stuff would take the heat...

Sometimes you have to "adjust" the flange before you tighten them down. Mine is finicky too. It helps to have 2 people to keep "centering" it as you tighten it down. I just tighten mine a little and then "re-center" it every few turns until it holds itself. Sounds silly, and maybe there's too much slack in my V-band, but it's worked for me. Good luck.
