Ignition timing.

Hi I`m new to this list, and I`ve got some questions I hope you can help me with.
I`ve just got my engine back in the car.
It`s a 89 t2 engine with street ported intake ports, the ex. ports are ported and lifted 3,5mm.
It`s got 2mm Hurly racing seals and Mazdatrix racing bearings.
It`s got a kkk k27 turbo on it,a prog. efi and a prog. ignition system.
I`ve just started the engine up,and I`m about to break it in.
I`m running only 0.5 bar in boost while breake in.
Here in Norway we have got 98ron pump fuel, how much boost can I safely run on it?
And for the ignition timing, has anyone got any good advice for me to start with?
Best regards
Ronny

You can safley run 30 deg advance up to 80kpa absolute, step dpown to around 25 to 100 kpa (0psi) then go to around 18 deg to 130 kpa, then around 15 deg to 165kpa, finally set it to 10 deg at +165kpa .....This should be a safe enough range for you to start at.

Maximum boost depends on the advance and ambient conditions not to mention altitude but 14 to 15 psi should be safe with a rich mixture 10.5 to 11.0:1 A/F.

Every engine is different though, but with your specs and a KKK27 you should be right with the above as a starting point. I use B10EGV plugs too, don't run hotter plugs if possible. Once it is tuned right you will be able to daily drive with these, especially if you have a strong ignition system.

If you need more help send me a PM and I will forward you my contact details.

regards.

Pete
