IC ? air to air/ air to water
I already have a apexi 3row and I hope I will be using some type of IC spray(co2,NOS) by the time I make it to a dyno. I also saw a air to water IC, it was a 6x10
barrel liquid to air IC for pretty cheap. I think it was the PWR. MY ? is which you do think will work best. Should I sell my apexi and try air to water or not? I see alot of race cars with this mod but not many street cars.

Air to water IC's on street cars are mainly used on mid engine set ups. Because they can't get enough air flow through an air to air IC they go with an air to water. With the air to water setup though, you also have to have a new tank to store the water in. I don't know how large the tank is. For the street most people stick with air to air. That's what I would reccomend but if you want to tray air to water, and see if it give better temps go for it, let us know.

I was interested in trying this as well. You can get a radiator for the IC water and put that in front of your stock radiator. This wouldn't be as thick as a FMIC so the stock cooling system should be happy. You can even get a smaller radiator so there will still be air going to the stock radiator. It is possible to use the other oil cooler opening on a touring car…. But the IC radiator would have to be smaller, and then you loose efficiency. You can make something to hold the water, put it in the hatch area so it doesn't heat up as much.
There are a lot of different routes to take with this setup and the main advantage I see is less pressure drop from a big IC. Shorter intake track will probably help spool the turbo a lot quicker. I wouldn't mind giving it a try but right now no one has much experience running this on the street. It might be more trouble than its worth.

I heard there is always going to be a A/F ratio issue because the air intake tems are allways differnt but then again go from 30 degrees outside to 70 is a big change with the air to air

Also, when I tested my water injection at the strip for the first time my trap speed stayed very consistent meaning I had no heatsoak.

Snowman is correct--Air/Water ICs were used primarily in circumstances where the IC is naturally removed from a good source of airflow. However, recently there have been some groups developing liquid-to-air exchangers that use a fluid other than water in a refrigerant cycle. This has the ability to bring the intake charge temperature below ambient. This system is probably better suited to short runs (i.e., drag) as I believe that the system cannot run steady-state (i.e., road racing) for too long.

I used to have an air to water intercooler in my FC3S. When I've been to England this setup was ok for my car but after moving back to Greece I realised that I had to change it with an air to air intercooler(Greddy 3 row). And I was right...The Power FC's commander never displayed an intake air temp of 45 degrees C in the summertime or 20 degrees C in the winter.
Water to air intercooler are good only in races where you can use ice or even methanol instead of just water.

Yea, I think the air to water will be a little to much for the street. I think Ill just stick with my air to air and maybe a propane or water injection system. Iv read the succsess with WI but how about propane?
