Yea go figure. Never fails. Always happens AFTER I purchase something THEN the price drops. I just bought a 50mm S/S a month ago.

carl,
happy new year and once again congrats for the high HP numbers. Nevertheless, I was wondering if you still have those waste springs from when you purchased your ss auto chrome 50mm wastegate? If so, are you willing to parts with the yellow spring? I beileve that it`s the 10 psi (spring rating) If so, how much shipped to Florida, 33496?

You can send it via USPS

Let me know,

Andre

So how is your wastegate treating you? Any problems with it?

Thanks

I have the original HKS 50 mm wastegate with a 14lb spring, but I'm planning on breaking in the engine with a low boost pressure. That's why I need a 7 or 10 PSI spring. If you have one, holler.

If you can't afford a PROPER wastegate, then maybe you shouldn't be modding the car....

my thoughts exactly

Almost a year later, but I'm interested to see how the Long term went for these wastegates?

I ran one for a 1 full race season. It worked really good and then the diaphragm started leaking. I now have a Tial.

All I have to say about the 50mm hks knockoff is that it really sketched me out and I decided to get a real one. I bought a brand new turbo and manifold from someone and he threw in the knockoff wastegate, which was supposed to be new, but I noticed that:

build quality was ****. it was in fact new, but the threads for the NPT pressure ports were complete **** and had to be retapped. Fitment was also horrible on the HKS undivided log in the sense that it bumped into my downpipe. Now I'm not sure if the real HKS 50mm would be so ungainly looking but I decided I needed the real thing. Also the spring in mine was too stiff... I put like 14psi through it and it still wouldn't open, and I didn't have any other springs with it, so I just canned it.

If you guys can get it to work for you, more power to you. But I had already bought all new genuine parts (HKS, Garrett, Greddy, etc) and I wasn't about to risk having the one knockoff part blow my motor.

i'm curious about others running this wastegate. i'm about to buy one and only run 10psi and ~250-300whp, so i'm not expecting huge performance out of it...

I sold my genuine HKS 50mm for a ebay 50mm. Both in which have 10psi springs.

My boost was always spiking with both wastegates... I`m sure my boost controller was setup correctly.

Nonetheless, I eliminated the controller and it sill spikes... must be a sticking valve. I`m using an genuine HKS FD manifold.

Anyone has any other ideas?
