Help a newb! Looking to buy a single turbo car

Im looking to buy an fd that has been single turbo'd. The guy says its a obx manifold with a godspeed t3/t4 turbo with a top mount intercooler. He is running 12lbs of boost with an apexi piggyback.
The engine is bridge ported with 800cc injectors.

I dont know anything really about the single turbo set ups, also built twin turbo'd cars but really want a single turbo.

My question is, is this a reliable set-up on pump gas( 93).
And is there anything I really need to know to look for in a single turbo'd car.

Thanks in advance.

pretty sure obx and godspeed are ebay brands, and a bridgeport sees power higher up in the power band than a streetport. Will this be your daily driver? It sounds like it could give you lots of problems if the guy built it cheaply with all ebay parts. And bridges arent great for daily, high idle, loud, and low end power isnt very good.

thats not to say that a single turbo fd wont be reliable, in fact many people switch to a single turbo for reliability. you just have to trust that person you buy the car from did it properly. idealy, they had a reputable shop install and have receipts for it. of course there is probably more things to look out for on a "stock" fd. if those even exist anymore.

i really think you should be reading the FAQ'S in the 3rd gen section on buying a FD3S. not to be a jerk, but you sound like you have A LOT of reading to do before you make your decision. i jumped into my purchase rather quickly and was intimidated when i found out some things about this car to say the least. if i had to do it over again, i would take my time and buy a well sorted single car, they can be had for similar prices to stock cars. or with what i know now, i'd probably just buy a roller and build it up myself. hehe

dont rush into anything or you'll be hating life

I do have a lot of reading up to do on single turbo'd cars, you are correct on that. A reputable local shop did do the work, not the shop I use for my cars but another shop. If I do end up buying this car, or any car at that, the first thing Im doing with it is that its going to pettit racing to get looked over.

Thanks for all of your input.

Owning an FD requires both money and knowledge. If you have little of one, you better have a lot of the other.

Read my friend. Research, research, research.....

Top mount intercooler?it does not make any sense.
800cc injectors?where?fd come with 550/880 secondaries,maybe 800cc on the primaries.
T3/T4 Turbo?Junk,a fd owner wont use that kind of crap,i know i wont.
OBX manifold?same as above, well they can be modified a little in order to get the job done.
Apexi Pigiback.Sure that is a pigiback and not a APEXI POWER FC?it just does not make sense running a pigiback on that setup.
Bridgeported motor? If it is true this car is slower than a stock fd cause the motor is lacking all the supporting mods needed 2 use is potential!
So if this car is really built like you posted dont even think about buying it.It sounds like a cheap i dont know what im doing kinda of build and is gonna die really quick on you,for what i can tell you have little to none knowledge about this cars. This car is a running BOMB and it can go off any second,so many things are wrong with it and they have 2 be address right away.Keep looking bro now if the car is cheap and you have extra money 2 spend buy it and do it the right way
