Guys who are PRO'S at AN FITTINGS AND HOSE....... Question
Using Kevlar Braided Startlite Hose and Re-Usable Fittings. This isn't the SS Braided kind.
When I slide the hose into the femal end of the fitting, it's not tight where you have to screw the hose into the female side.
Normally, with smaller fittings I have to really screw the hose into the femal side real hard and it's really tight. Not with these. These are -16 if that matters.
Anyhow, when I screw the male side of the fitting into the femal side, it tightens down pretty good. I don't have a pressure tester so I can test it.
I don't want these blowing off and hosing me down.
Think I'm okay ?

This is radiator hose, so pressure won't be real high.
I see that all hoses have different hose OD's.
Startlite
Hose Inside Diameter (in): 0.875 in.
Hose Outside Diameter (in): 1.156 in.
Earls SS
Hose Inside Diameter (in): 0.875 in.
Hose Outside Diameter (in):
Earls Prolite
Hose Inside Diameter (in): 0.875 in.
Hose Outside Diameter (in): 1.160 in.
1.140 in.
Russel
Hose Inside Diameter (in): 0.875 in.
Hose Outside Diameter (in): 1.125 in.

Normally the larger you go in size the easier they are to assemble. Different makes of hose and ends can be easier than other makes of similar size as well. That said, the hose shouldn't be sloppy loose in the fitting before assembly. Finish the assembly, make sure the hose doesn't push out of the female ends as you tighten it, and then give it a good tug.

This -16 hose has been a nightmare. I ordered a bunch of XRP Kevar hose, thinking that I could use it with re-usable fittings. Wrong, I found this out after I chopped it up. There's $180 down the drain.

eric, if you mix and match brands of hose/fittings you will notice the issues you're having. i have used mix and match stuff in the past without problems, but i noticed a definate issue when trying to use earls fittings with aeroquip hose. i ended up changing to aeroquip fittings. im not saying that it cant work, but if it feels very wrong to you, maybe you should use a diffrent brand of fitting.
