GT35R - T3 or T4, help me decide

This summer I'm going to get a turbo kit for my FD which has turbo back 3" exhaust and a street ported engine. This car is mostly a street car and I'm having trouble deciding on a turbo kit.

1. Rx7Store GT35R kit - T3 .82 Exhaust
2. A-spec GT35R T3 tubo kit
3. A-spec GT35R T4 turbo kit

I know a lot of folks have had good luck with the RX7Store kit but I was reading that it could chock in the high end, and I was thinking since im ported this might be a bigger issue for me? I'm looking for a setup that will spool quick and make good power... around 400rwhp+ is fine.

If I'm not mistaken, A-spec stopped selling the T3 version. I could be wrong. Maybe Zero R will chime in...

If I were you I would spend the money and get a-spec 500R Kit You will get plenty of streetable power with that setup.

Bingo!

Divided T4 is the way to go. Not only does it offer better response than the 1.06 T3 in most cases, it doesn't fall flat up top either. The other big thing to consider it when you want to step up you already have a T4 manifold.

i'd get the T3 35r. some dude just maxed one out on the dyno on this forum at like 500whp.... and i'm sure it spools up pretty fast too.

Sean, is the 3574 kit the same except for the turbo? I'm thinking it's THE choice for people who want a good single kit (with upgrade path!) on a budget.

Our GT35R kit is a T4 and a .82 A/R. Just to clear that up. If you are looking for more power then we recommend the T04Z which has been a big seller.

Does anyone offer a gt35 non-bb t4 kit? For the people who want only like 300rwhp, but with the benefits of being single.

Yes, and the water and oil fittings change as well.

Enzo tuned the car and he is very good at what he does. That said it was on C16 and leaves no room to step up. I don't see many people wanting to run their 35R to 25psi on C16 is my point The divided 1.0 T4 will spool quicker than the T3 1.06 all things being equal.

I know about the 74, I meant just a regular 35, with the 68mm wheel?

There is no non BB GT35 with a 68mm wheel(if your wanting to run the 35R compressor), at that point you might as well consider a smaller turbo. Closest you can get would be a 3572. Which runs a 51/71mm compressor instead of the 61/82mm compressor. If you can source one, you can possibly find it with a 54/76 comp. but then you also need to hope you can get something sourced other than the 1.18 rear.

T04R has a 67mm inducer, vs the 35R's 61.4mm inducer.

From what I was reading on this forum the GT35R "T4" kit sold by you (rx7store) is not a real T4. It is a modified T3. It was a post with a side by side comparison between a real T4 and the rx7store "T4" and you posted that its a good kit for people on a budget.

I'm not looking for more power (yet), i just want quick spool and good top end. Does your GT35R kit offer the good top end of a T4?

No you dont. althougth a T4 would be a better choice.

On a completely stock motor stock ports with a T3 gt35r 1.06 I made 403 RWHP at 15psi PUMP GAS last year. Then I ported the motor and made 428rwhp at same 15psi again on pump gas.

Just out of curiosity, was there much if any difference in the spool time between the stock and ported motor?

once ported spool did get pushed back about 500 rpms. I get full boost by about 4100rpm. You dont really notice the difference in spool but you sure feel the difference in power it made.

I once saw a 13B exhaust flange next to T3 and T4 flanges, and it made me wonder why anyone uses the T3 in the first place. The T3 inlet looks downright tiny compared to the area of the two 13B exhaust ports, and the divided T4 looks slightly small as well. Note that there weren't any stock turbos to compare to, so I might be completely off base here.
