Gt35r oil seal

Hello,

I just got new turbo from advance turbo and noticed lots of smoke from the turbo. I took the IC pluming off and there were fresh oil all over the IC. Do you know if this happens often with BB turbos?

hello,

I am using restrictor and regular oil because it is rx7. oil drain is not perfectly at 6 oclock but it is close enough and i have lots of oil in IC pluming. So, it is bad turbo right?

anyone here had this problem with their gt35r turbos?

local shop told me that one of their customer gone through 3 bb turbos because of oil problem.

i should be driving the car today because of this Piece of S#!t turbo i am in garage.

thanks.

It can happen that you get a bad one out the box every now and then. I think we've had about three total, and from all the turbo's and kits we sell that is really low. Sometimes when new for some reason we have noticed you need to put some positive pressure through them and then the seal sets. I wouldn't go doing tons of runs but I would try and put moderate 12-15psi through it once or twice. make sure the drain is not clogged as well, I have seen people's drain port on the front cover almost closed because the squeezed so much RTV there instead of gasket. I wouldn't restrict it much smaller than .06 either.

Hello,

I want to do some pulls but i am worried about detonation due to hot oil going into engine. I have oil on cold side to intercooler pluming and i am getting lots of smoke like burnout. if it wasn't for oil in IC pipes i would do some quick pulls.
