GT35/40 - 10.2 @ 133mph
I noticed there are a few people interested in how the GT35/40 performs, so I thought I'd post here
The Jamboree was held over the weekend (in Queensland, Australia). This is the biggest event for 4/6/Rotary powered cars and there were over 15,000 fans in attendance. (Read more results HERE)
I raced my car and did quite well, but my final run of the night was my quickest, with a 10.2 @ 133mph pass! The tune was very conservative (and rich) so there is more left in it yet
Hopefully I'll have some video footage converted in a week or so
The Details :-
I should have my website done in a couple of weeks but basic run down is:-
1985 Mazda RX-7 (Series III)
Engine: 13B turbo (Series V - 1990 - built in garage at home)
Gearbox: Turbo II Gearbox (Series V)
Turbo: Garret GT35/40BB
ECU: MoTeC ECU
Tyres: 26x8.5" slicks
Weight: 2647lbs
10.2 @ 133mph (1.38 60 foot)
Best 60' of 1.36
A couple of old photos, hopefully more in a couple of days.

Thanks to everyone else for the cool comments, to be honest I think it launches this well partly due to how quickly the turbo comes on boost....

One can assume from the weight and the mph that my engine is making close to 580hp (flywheel).
Note that I think the factory Turbo II (Series 5) intake manifold is now becoming a restriction in my setup.

Was it completely stock inside though? Or had it been ported/power ported/whatever. On a flow bench I have seen gains of over 30% just from porting the intake manifold.

12.04 @ 120 from the colt is pretty impressive too! Cheap conversion

a777,
Thanks for the reply/info. I used to have a first gen (1981 year) with a 13b street port , blower and nitrous. I kept busting trannies and blowing up pumpkins.. I love those first gens and what a sleeper you have....(still drive an 85 totally stock with 160,000 miles...)
