Internals not good? What are you smoking?
Let's start by saying ....
It's not that the internals are not 'good' - they are not ball bearing. Thus, there is more friction and effort needed to move the wheel. Call it less technologically advanced, but its still a good turbo capable of similar horsepower numbers, as has been demonstrated many, many times.....
Yes, the GT 35/40 can get a bit more all things being equal due to it's ball bearing desing, but if it breaks, it's not rebuildable (I know there are people claiming they can do rebuilds of ball-bearing turbos, but I've never heard of them lasting. If someone can demonstrate that they've been able to rebuild a 35/40 and have it last more than 10K miles, please substantiate and I'll change my mind. I've got a reputable turbo builder locally, and that is ALL he does, and he's not seen it done well yet). I can get the t04s rebuilt for peanuts. And turbos do break .... oil lines fail, apex seals get sucked up, etc......
So, I have a feeling you're going to get toasty warm with flamage......maybe you want to modfiy your statement to 'the internals are not as technologically advanced....."
And I think A-spec does a nice GT35/40 kit. I'm sure there are others who will chime in, since the 35/40 is also becoming quite popular.

I have A-Spec's 35/40 kit. The craftsmanship is top notch and the turbo itself is great for a street car. I have 15 lbs of boost by 3400-3500 rpm's. Should have numbers on it hopefully in a month or two when I go back for another tune.
