Garrett GT35 (not R)
Is anyone using the GT35?
I am looking at getting this turbo(GT35) with these specs:
Compressor: 76mm Wheel Dia.
56 Wheel Trim
.50 or .60 A/R ratio (not sure)
Trubine:
68mm Wheel Dia.
84 Wheel Trim
1.18 A/R ratio
I am using stock ports and hope for 400+ hp at 15-16 psi on pump gas(91 octane)
Looking for quick/decent spool and more lower end power rather than a lot at the top end.
Was told this would cap off around 7000 rpm (which I am fine with)
I have done a bunch of searching this past week and have found very little on this turbo, everyone is using the GT35R.
Here are the Maps:

No. All ball bearing Garrett turbos come with R compressors, but you can also get an R compressor with a plain bearing center section (meaning all GTXXR compressors do not necessarily come with ball bearing center sections).

What A/R should I be looking for??
I have also been considering the "Blowzilla" a T4/GT40 with .70 A/R with a 61mm inducer or the "Big Kahuna" a T4/T04R with .70 A/R and 66.5mm inducer both have the optional turbine housing trim wheels just not sure which wheel trim to use though O,P, or Q.
I was told by my tuner (Ralph Friend from Ground Zero in OR) to use the GT35 for what I want after he called around. He normally knows what he is talking about when it comes to turbos and rotaries becuase he has tuned so many, I just thought I would check here too and see what you guys think and get a second opinion
Keep the comments coming and thanks for the help so far.

Thanks Zero R, yeah Ralph is a good guy. So what turbo do you think fits my criteria??
The GT35 comes with the option of a 1.08 A/R would that be better, or would one of the other turbos I mentioned (T4/GT40 or T4/T04R) be better?
Thanks for the input it is much appreciated

If your not wanting the R than a standard GT35 would work with the 1.08 not super responsive but it will work. Still a little large for stock ports non-BB. I would say .9? would work well for street and stock ports.

Thanks for the comments Zero R, its not that I don't want the R its just the $$ thing . . . .
So it looks like the A/R from the turbos from Chepaturbos.com will be too low (.70 A/R)
Thanks again,
Justus

Ohh I see, so how do I know the A/R on the compressor for those turbos(Is it determined by the wheel trim)?
Also what is the lowest I want to go with the A/R? I would like to be making power until 7K rpm.
Thanks for the help Zero R

Zero R, what turbine wheels should Justus use? From talking to him, it seems he wants something with very good low end for the streets. His goal is 400rwhp which isn't much. I was telling him he probably needs P trim w/ an A/R right around .96 to 1.0.

Hey Ralph, I looked up Garrett's catalog and they have a turbine option that Precision Turbo doesn't show, its a 1.05 A/R on the trubine with the 76mm dia. wheel on the compressor that is shown by Precision Turbo.

Looks like Garrett sells a GT35R with a 1.08 a/r for a decent price
Precision sells the PT61 with a .96 a/r that's pretty cheap too
The T4/GT40 is an awesome deal I would say. Not too many people have tried it on a rotary either so you'll be one of the first

Hey John, thanks for the post.
Where are you finding the prices for the turbos?
I went to percisonturbo.net and didn't find any prices.
Are you looking at a different site?
I found the PT61 but the largest A/R listed was .86
BTW when are you pulling James engine?? I would love to help

James' engine might stay in longer than we thought. Some business ideas just crossed my mind and we might need his engine to stay in place for another couple of weeks. The plan was to do it this coming sunday. Check your pm
