FD coil pack upgrades??

I agree. Just because Mazda did something originally doesn't mean another way isn't safer. Once you start running higher boost the combustion pressures and temperatures increase making the fuel more apt to detonate or pre-ignite, both of which are bad. Anything like spark plugs or carbon can be a hot spot that can ignite the mixture under these higher pressures and temperatures. This is the reason you see people running all 10's and sometimes even 11's in high boost single turbo applications. I'm running single turbo now at 16 psi on all 9's and I would be very nervous if the leading had 7's. I plan to go colder now for more boost, just trying to decide if i'll run 9/10's or all 10's.
Another thing about stock Mazda plugs is they are really not a very good design anyways, even though they are the ones that put them in there to begin with. They foul out easier and the spark is further away from where it needs to be.
EDIT: Back on topic.... How much of a difference have ya'll noticed going from stock coils w/Twin P to TII coils & Twin P for those that have tried both...

My setup is: T2 leading coil, stock trailing coils, HKS Twin Power, R6725-9 leading and R6725-10 trailing with both running .030" gap. With my 12.5- 13.5 AFR idle and 14.7 - 16.5 cuise AFRs, my plugs are always clean!

Nah, quite the opposite. However it is nice to be part of a forum where people share by means of reasoning, instead of talking out their ***. Thanks for your contribution though, next time don't miss the toilet

You are absolutely right... I wouldn't rely constantly on what others were telling me. You tried to tell me on rotary car club that the primary turbo on the stock twins of an FD was smaller than the secondary and to look in my engine bay... which is not the case That being said, most people have to learn somewhere. Glad people are asking questions and wanting to know the reasoning behind it.

just save yourself some $ and work. Add hks ign. on "good working" fd coil pack. Proven and works fine. As far as plugs go... I run 11's all around on Q16. Anyone want to argue that can discuss it with Ray or Ari....

No need to get upset about it buddy. There is also no need to talk down to people asking questions. Since you asked:

Last year, MSD 6A, stock FD coils, R6725-10.5 plugs. Pump gas 14psi ignition never missed a beat but went through leading plugs FAST.
This year MSD 6A, MSD 8224 coil on the leading, Denso IRE01-32 leading & IRE01-34 trailing. Havent run the car yet but im not expecting to notice much difference other than not fearing my ignition coild will burn up.

Can't comment on the actual MSD product, but the 90-96 300zx has this type of setup where the coil sits directly on top of the plug. You might check with the Z guys to see what they say about the set up.

I agree on the bracket. Had I not already purchased an HKS twin power and a T2 leading coil... I would have considered giving those a shot.
I might still do a comparison between the two after I get tuned and such.
My question is what is the better plug temp ranges to run, and what split (if any) in the ranges between leading and trailing. And why?
I am not questioning to demerit anyone, only to possibly learn something new.
