Since one of NPG+'s claim to fame is less likelyhood of vapor in the system, is it safe to say one can do teh AST mod on teh 3rd gen with little/no worries?

This is a question better answered by Rob, so you should email him at rob@pineappleracing.com . My guess is that it is safer to do with Evans than with conventional coolant, but that running zero pressure on the system makes AST failure very unlikely so you might not need the mod in the first place.

anyone in So. CAL wants to buy 3 cases (12gallons) and split it to 6 gallons?

im pretty sure ill be needing a little more than 4 gallons. (have a lot of mods to do in the future)

Looking at the Evans web site, under the FAQ, it says the temp gauge will read higher but with no side effects of it being in the red. Its question 10 in the list. I'm not a tech geek, so the water temp sensor that is actually measuring the temp of the fluid, that then send its to our gauge in the dash, will see that the NPG+ has absorbed more heat from the engine, and show a higher needle reading correct? What if the coolant isn't flowing through the system fast enough, its still absorbs heat up to the 375, but what about after that? Your at the track, pushing it to catch your best lap time, hard on the boost, engine is obviously making some heat. In a given volume, this stuff will be able to absorb more heat as it flows around our engines than woud a typical blend 70/30 blend? And then it will go through the radiator and cool off and back to the engine for another round of cooling. So thats why the needle might show a higher reading? Since it can absorb more heat than regualr stuff without evaporating.


Also, I'm a little hesitant on a couple of things. Does our system have the right flow charateristics they mention on the web site...thermostat that flows high enough etc?

I guess what I'm asking in a round about way is.....all I need to do to my 91 an 93 is to drain the entire system, then add the NPG+, get a low pressure or no pressure cap and thats it?

Just being anally carefully since playing with our cooling system is not something I want to find out doesn't work like a normal car with this stuff and have a rebuild.

I'm concerned with how 'plug and play' this coolant is as well, but when I went back to look at their site, notice that Evan's says that the site mostly reflects the orginal NPG, and that NPG+ facts were added/mixed in.

Pretty confusing on the part of Evans, and the distinction between NPG and NPG+ needs to be clearly made.

"The following was written to provide a brief introduction to our new NPG + coolant. As most of our site was setup to support NPG, it will take some time to properly adjust the pages to outline the greater benefits, enhanced operational dynamics, and ease of installation of NPG+. In short, NPG+ has superior cooling ability to even our own NPG, which is, in iteslf, superior to all other coolants. For that very reason, we will continue to support NPG for the few applications that may wish to utilize the unique charcteristics of NPG. However, NPG+ is easier to use as it does not in most cases require changes to existing cooling system components. NPG+ is priced identically with NPG and is the preferred choice for all installations except for those uses that specifically prohibit the ingredient ethylene glycol. (E.g., some motorcycle race tracks prohibit ethylene glycol but have no such restriction on the use of propylene glycol.)."

When 'flipping' thru the 'basic Installation Manual', Evans does say that an expansion tank is neccesary - but I'm confused as to whether this applies to (original) NPG only.

I, as I am sure everybody else, would like assurances from Rob himself - and examples of its usage (and length of time).

I think I deserve an award for starting this thread!
For anyone that has been using the coolant does it really prevent the built up of rust and scale in the motor and radiator? I really hate the uggly mess that regular coolant leave inside the motor and radiator.
I seriously believe that regular coolant manufacturers aren't doing their best to prevent this because just about every motor I've opened from Japan that have at least 40k miles on them looked liked they have never ran before.They must have some good coolant stuff in Japan!

I ran the stuff in my peripheral ported 13B for about 13k miles, before the motor sucked a bolt, and had to rebuild. No corosion, anything else inside the motor...besides the things that where suppose to be there.

I've installed it about 2 weeks ago, and I was at the track last saturday. And I must say it is great~ temps stayed under 90 the whole time! but my thermostat opens at 85, fans on at 85 and I have a fluidyne so that might have affected it. what's interesting was that some guy saw the bottle I brougth with me and came up to me and said "that stuff is the **** man!" anyway I guess those who use it once will never go back to conventional coolent again.

Installation was quite weird. After I pour in the new coolent and idled the car, the stock gauge went all the way to HOT but my power FC only registered 60degrees....but after awhile the gauge went back to normal and everything is fine now...weird. As for the cap I just use the stock 0 pressure cap that was on the water housing.

highway I used to see temps at 90-95, now it is a constant 86-88. And on my blitz water temp gauge is at 75. (the blitz gauge is getting it's reading on the hose that goes from the housing to the radiator.)
