Four gallons is really a good quantity for one car. If I'm not mistaken, the stock system is a bit over 2 gallons, and most aftermarket rads will bump that up to about 3 gallons (more?). Having an extra gallon is not a bad idea, as you might spill a little when doing maintenance (engine swap, fixing the heater core, replacing hoses, etc.) at some point, so you should want extra to top off with in the future. However, if you and your buddy buy two cases (8 gallons) and have a enough left over, you could probably find someone else locally who would take it off your hands....

(If someone can confirm the volume of the stock and aftermarket rad systems, please post that info here. Don't forget the volume required by the heater core, overflow bottle, and AST (where applicable). Or, people could simply email Rob Gloden: rob@pineappleracing.com ).

Not sure yet. I'll talk to Rob in the next few days and we'll figure out the deadline. We might be able to have an extended deadline (say, mid or late december), but start shipping earlier to those who place orders right away. I'll post a follow-up when I find out....

i thought there is nothing you cant find in japan. they even have motor oil for rotary engine. (nothing really special but very expensive) hehe...

like Blake mentioned, just remember Sierra is propylene glycol (PG) based. im pretty sure you can find propylene glycol based coolant in japan.

if you cant, ill help you shipping sierras to where you live. (they are about $5-6 here)

Would it be expensive to ship the Sierra stuff to you from the US?

Another option is to have a shop that does AC service put a strong vacuum on your cooling system. In a sufficient vacuum, water will literally boil at room temperature, evaporating completely. This will remove the water even more efficiently than using the Sierra coolant as an intermediate step, though it is likely to entail more expense and effort. Hopefully you can find a shop with a radiator cap adaptor. As someone else said, however, you can probably find a decent PG based coolant in Japan, under a different brand name -- just look for something that has dogs, cats, or children on the lable, since this may indicate a PG product (non-poisonous). Good luck.

Sorry Ken, did you email me or Rob? I don't recall getting anything. I'm the one organizing the group buy. Rob was out of town for several days, supporting a GrandAm Cup BMW M3 at the Timex 12 Hour of Thunderhill. He's back and I went to see him yesterday to sort out some details. Go ahead and email your information (name, address, quantity, etc.) to me at vrm@aracnet.com and I'll get back to you with details.

BTW, each case is 39lbs and they will be shipped from zip code 97230 (Portland, OR), so you can figure out shipping for yourself if you want.

Well, I talked to Rob and he wants this done pretty quickly, so we'll probably close it out by the 10th, collect money and ship the product. Sound good?

My brother's FD and mine are out at KDR in PA. Turns out the warehouse for Evans is about 90 miles away. I purchased a case from a distributor in PA and they are shipping it for $11 to KDR. Cost per gallon was $20 on sale. I checked shipping from Portland and it was about $25 a case.

Ken (and everyone else),

I'd like to remind you that Rob is the one who pioneered the use of Evans NPG in rotaries and showed that it could be done without upgrading the radiator, waterpump, thermostat, etc. He is also the one who offered the group buy, which I believe has educated a lot of people to the advantages of the product and perhaps even saved many people hundreds of dollars of additional expense from upgrading their radiator because their ordinary coolant wasn't doing the job. In other words, you are buying the product based on his research and development. He is also investing a lot of money to buy the quantity that gives him a decent price (over 100 gallons) so he can actually cover his cost (barely) at a GB price of $18 per gallon. If people start backing out because they can save a couple of bucks in shipping, then this GB is over and you can never expect another GB on any other Pineapple Racing products or services. This is why it's so hard to get any new products and services developed for our cars. Nobody seems to respect the effort and money invested in product development and will screw you over at the drop of a hat. Rob's also producing some slick CNC'd 6-port sleeves for NAs. Guess what? No sooner has he invested thousands of dollars on the first production run than several people from this forum email him saying that they won't pay more than x-dollars or they will rip-off the idea and have their own made.

All I can say is, if you ever want good products developed for our cars, you must support those doing the development, even if you can save a buck or two buying a rip-off. And when someone goes out and finds a new application for an existing product (Evans) and proves it will work, then educates a mass of people, then offers a smoking deal on a GB, then you should buy it from him even if some other distributor (who did no research) comes up with a similar price and can ship it for slightly less. Business is precarious enough without wasting your time to improve your competitor's business!

So, this GB is in a precarious state. I need everyone who expressed interest before to reconfirm their intention to buy. If too many people drop out, the GB is over and certain individuals can pat themselves on the back for ruining a good thing. Again, email me at vrm@aracnet.com . Sorry for the drama, but I don't want Rob stuck with 100+ gallons of Evans because I convinced him to do the group buy.
