ebay turbos and manifolds

Hey guys, I was looking around ebay and found some really cheap turbos. I was wondering if anyone has used these cheap turbos. Ive seen turbos as cheap as $200-$400 and manifolds for $100-200

I have one of the cheap manifolds and its holding up ok with my non-cheap GT42. Done about 600miles on it so far, I would like to brace it tho.

you could risk using one of the manifolds, alot of people have had issues with welds cracking. i think that using those ebay turbos would be throwing money out the window

What makes them crack? Is it cheaper stainless steel, poor construction? Ive heard people say they use ss tubing and mild steel flanges. Bad welding? Thinner piping?

Ive seen some other expensive aftermarket tubular manifolds, how do those hold up?

Im wondering about those cheap turbos too.

99.9% of the negatives are people with NO 1st hand expericance
or reposting the 100% bogus and proven to be fake split housing report

spending $200 and gambling on a china turbo is going to bankrupt most of you
so I understand

What if someone were to buy one of these ebay turbo's and get them rebuilt by a professional? I am wondering the reason these parts are such crap. Which parts, tolerences, bearings are bad. If the housings and turbine wheel are fine, why wouldn't these parts be rebuildable properly.

Or for the manifolds, what if you were to reinforce it by welding gussets? Or is the material and craftsmanship pure crap and could never be made good/better?

I know these parts are not fully made by pros, but im wondering what makes them not so good. It cant be just the name. Somone with first hand experience?

1st hand experiance you ready clowns?

50mm wastegate 2 years zero problems 20 PSI on a T04R
FD manifold 2 years no cracks ( I did add a brace would add one on any SS manifold anyways)
XS power 4" intercooler works perfect 400+ HP
50mm Tial knock off Bov works like a champ (using 2 of them)
SSautochrome 3" stainless piping kit very nice polished metal bends
hoses are decent clamps are junk for high boost applications
but better then radiator clamps

POST your OWN personal use of there products
stop posting "I heard" "I read" non of which can validate anything!

here is another "personal experiance and extensive use" of the ssautochrome

I ran a SSAC turbo for kicks a few years back just to see the improvment made over the previously GLUED (yes, that word is used correctly) compressor housings of their older "garret internal" turbos.

After 15minutes of run time and no boost it was blowing oil. After the first 3 or 4times I ran it up to 15psi the turbo had more in and out shaft play then my blown stock Hitach HT-18.

You want it? ******* buy it and stop posting.

Edit: I removed it after 2weeks of driving for fear of it blowing to bits from the excessive shaft play. It hadn't begun to scrape the housing at that point either, just minor contact on the upper and lower section of the comp. housing.

This was the "T04-S super JDM" And super JDM it was. Just Damn Miraculous it lasted 2 weeks.

I"m using thier fc manifold but ceramic coated it, added a brace and cut the old wastegate flange off and added a TiAl 40mm flange.

edit: I'm sure when I get my car tuned the people will try to sell me a good manifold, but I'm not sure if I'm going to bite or not I kinda want to see what this will do however it's been proven time and time again that tubular devided manifolds are the way to go. If they wheren't then you would see all the top dogs running hks/greddy manifolds.

here you can kind of tell what it looks like

Of course it is. You'd be better off setting $150 on fire.....

It took a lawsuit to boot ssautochrome from Ebay
not poor sales....You would think all the bad reviews would deter people from buying but nope...There selling there stuff wholesale to other ebay dealers
and the stuff ALWAYS sells

I may try the china made GT45 for the hell of it, if there is not bidding war for one
so far selling like hotcakes!

OK , im not going to buy one of those turbos. I dont need turbo bits inside my engine.

Those manifolds are cheap enough for me to cracka dozen of those though. Haha, Maybe I will add reinforcement to mine.

I have an Ebay "XS Power" manifold on my car. I hate to admit to it. But, so far so good. Made plenty of power too. And like you said, if it cracks, I'll just buy another and have that one re-welded and re-inforced and have a spare.

The intercoolers and wastegates seem fine...I have run both without issue. The manifolds are okay..expect some of the holes to be drilled a little off, and the flanges may not be perfectly flat. But I still have no problem with those as a starting point for a good kit.

I am actually going to run their FC log manifold and the 40mm hks knockoff WG with my gt35r on the FC.
