E-85

Hello guys. I don't post a whole lot but I am always reading. I had a question and hoped that you guys could help me out.

I know that a 3/8" fuel line from tank to fuel rail is good for a max of about 450whp(I have a buddy that has this much on it) and that anything above that would be pushing it. How much would that be on E-85 if he were to just change the fuel and leave the fuel line the same? Also, how much will a 255lph fuel pump get you on e-85 if he were to leave that pump in there? Does the same "30%" calculation apply here?

I am asking for both him and me as I am looking at this as a possible scenario for my Turbo RX-8 and I am in the same whp range as him(FD).

Thanks in advance.

Chris

there is some things to consider if your going to run E85, the biggest is your fuel system. Being that the car in question is an Rx8, it probably lacks many of the materials that E85 would harm that could be found in the rx7s, especially the first and second generation models. The biggest thing would be proper tuning and injector sizing

The whole thing with E85 being horribly bad for un-anodized aluminum is being proved somewhat wrong. Guy are reporting no signs of corrosion after 1 year.

I am asking for both an FD and my RX-8.

Me and my friend both are interested in doing this. I have an updated fuel system on mine which features a return line(stock line) and a 3/8"diam. Fuel line from the tank to the fuel rail with an after market FPR. My buddy(FD) has a 3/8" diam fuel line from the tank to his fuel rail but he has dual in tank fuel pumps(already pushed 550whp). I would like to know how much whp can be had using the 3/8" fuel line if we change to e-85 since more fuel volume will be needed per hp.

We've done our homework and both our cars have components that shouldnt have a problem with e-85.

Thanks for the help by the way!!
