Curious to see what oil grade.......

I wanted to find out what oil grade are people using in their single T setup. Should I be using straight up 50?
I am currently using 15/50 Mobile one, and I get about 30psi at idle. But when about a week passes by it lowers to 10psi. Can it be that it thins out so quickly? Am I not using the right oil? I was told to change back to regular oil, since thats what it came from factory with.

Thanks D

I've used synthetic on my modified FC.

I currently use 30 weight oil (natural) for my single turbo FD in Texas.

Castrol 20/50. Have used it in every RX7 I have owned. I never had an oil related failure.

I have been using Royal Purple 20W-50 and switched to Racing 51 just because I wanted maximum protection. I have a "dry" turbo, so I decided to use synthetic. My oil pressure stays up longer with synthetic than it did with mineral oil, too. I don't have any data, but synthetic is also supposed to lower operating temps (water + oil), which can be an especially important issue for road racers.

There are many good oil choices available, and we don't often hear of oil-related failures with these cars. I think you just have to weigh the factors and make a choice.

Hey guys I just changed my oil AGAIN, now to Castrol 20w50.
I now get about 15-20psi at idle(before just below 10psi) but what puzzles me is that the sweeping of the needle on the guage isn't smooth. Its more like jerking at around 50psi and above. Meaning it sweeps up smooth to about 50psi and then starts to go a little up towards 60-70psi, then back down acouple of psi's, then back up. What I'm trying to say is that its not smooth when the pressure increases. Sometimes it doesn't even go past 60psi. AARRRRR but sometimes it goes to 100psi!!!. Now I tried Syn oil heavy and light but results vary.

Any suggestions????? I'm currently using (4) quarts of Castrol 20w50 with one quart of Lucus oil.
The guage is Autometer 100psi.

The problem might be in the oil pressure sending unit. What's the oem gauge reading?
