Get the C4 fully built to handle it then, full reverse manual valve body, high quality clutch paks, high quality bands, and good band adjustment maintenance. Maybe a hardened input shaft and a some good planetary gear sets.
But don't expect the C4 to be the best you can get. The C4 transmission was never designed for really fast shifts. From 1st to second, one of the gear sets actually stops and spins the other way, leading to an immediate change in momentum (and as you know, this breaks parts).
Personally, I would go for a Powergilde in an auto swap. They can handle it.
Or if you want the third gear (or fourth), go with a TH chevy tranny. They are better designed, and will give you less problems. More parts are offered for them as well.
Whichever route you go though, make sure you get a torque convertor built specifically for your engine application. This is a HUGE thing.

If what you said that the gearset stops and spins the other way then i think it would defenitely break parts ,only reason i was going to use a C4 was cause it was so small and light compared to a chevy tranny, also on the C4 you could use the Mazda stock tranny bell housing and make a plate that goes in between the bell housing and the tranny then bolt it up plus you can retain the original starter location.Might have to head back to the drawing board with this project. Thanks .

also how much did the adapter set you back
the 350 is a single unit right?
you can't remove the bellhousing as I understand it
I've been wanting to put a 350 tranny in my car
with a 6000 RPM stall

If you purchased the adapter, ask the people who made it how they recommend doing it.
In the Racing Beat catalog is a picture of a race engine they put together, quite obviously bolted up to a T10-type transmission and a Chevy bellhousing (evidenced by the "peak" at the top and the starter pocket near the exhaust ports) I didn't see a top-mount starter on that car, so maybe there's another way. I was thinking that it might be possible to rig up something with a starter motor, a one-way clutch, and a ribbed or toothed belt on the front of the engine, but that might wind up being too much stress on the snout of the E-shaft.

the adapter was 600.00 with the spacer hub for the FW. my manifold sits on top of the header area so i am not concerned with that, i already figured that it will sit by the cutout but this requires notching of the TH350's bellhousing to clear the starter gear. i will have it done in two weeks when it gets back from the machine shop. how many of you SERIOUSLY would be interested in this setup for race applications? i can have more made that will work out of the box, but it would have to be at least 5 or more to get the machining cost down, i just hate that i had to pay this much for something that is not finished.
BTW this setup uses the 153 tooth chevy FW and will use a chevy starter. let me know quickly guys while my stuff is already at the machine shop wwm1@wt.net
