Border Racing Twin Turbo Kit.
Hi Guys,
Has anyone come accross the Border Racing twin turbo kit?
Basically my engine is streetported and I am thinking what kind of power this kit would make. Or better still, does anyone here use this kit or know of anyone.
I have found a few things on the kit which is stated below, would be nice to recieve some further input.
The contents of KIT :
Apexi AX 53B70P25 (x2) (Water cooled)
SusEX MANI 50phi (x1)
Sus extension 60phi (x2)
Sus front pipe 60-76phi (x1)
Air suction BOX

Should be good for high power. The turbos I think are very similar to the RX6b. If I remember correctly those turbos, well just 1 is used on the Apexi drift car. It makes 500hp. I don think it is highly ported ither. Probley extended porting.
Im no expert but if you had all the fule mods to support it and the correct tune Id say a similar number of 500hp maybe even around 650hp. Aslo I think you would need to dowel your block to prepair it for that sort of power.
I have seen those turbos before because Im a great fan of thier FD bodykits, but I chose Fujita Engineering in the end.

That's a really good price, I thought they were about $8500USD dollars when I looked in to them about 4 years ago. An HKS T04Z single is about $6000USD.

Thats the point.. Im attempting this type of setup on a street ported cosmo 13bre engine.. not sure of what turbos im going to use.. was thinkin of maybe two tdo6 or two td07 turbos.. or maybe two t/3 t/4 gt35r turbos. im glad i seen this though.. ive ben lookin for a pic of a twin turbo exhaust manifold for a while to help my welder piece it all together.. should be at sevenstock next year..
BTW its in a 90 vert.

That kit has been around for 6 years. Big waste of money since you can do a single for half the price and make the same power, although you lose the bling factor that those twins bring
We did one similar for about half the price but still not worth it over a single.

ah.. ohio is a ways away from me.. (las vegas). your running two wastegates on that setup right?? my good friend here in vegas is a hell of a welder and we have both been pondering the idea of twin smaller T04s.. If u have any more pics of the setup that would be awesome.

Thanks for the comments guys. Lots of pros and cons.
Basically, what power would this make on a 1994 FD RX-7 with street porting, of course, there are supporting mods like KG parts secondary injectors, FMIC, Rad etc.
Also, I am getting the full kit at a good price which is why I am considering it.
Look forward to all comments.

Honestly, if you are asking this question, I would really just do a single.
think of having twice the amount of stuff that can go wrong...

i just put my twins in the barn for the wisconsin winter.
i have approx 8700 miles on them and they are ripping. unfortunately to the point where i just shredded my Exedy Hyper single. the run before that i got sideways at 5600 in 3rd gear at 60% throttle. as far as running cool, no problem my egts are currently 1200 F preturbo and i have yet to see 30 on my knock. thank methanol. lots of new stuff on my car this year. after a new clutch and a switch to manual brakes i will be on the dyno in march and i will be disappointed if i don't see 600 rwhp. here are a few pics i took today.
check out the Auxiliary Injection section if you haven't already...
love my twins.

I'm leaning to think that the lack of impressive results with twin turbo setups is more due to noone having hit the nail on the head with the right setup rather there not being an inherent advantage of twins over a single (which we know theoretically to be the case). Maybe more people will take the risk and try other manifold/turbo combinations (if had the time and the resources I would have tried a twin T04E 46 trim already)
BTW Howard, what compressors are you using?

Coming from another twin owner ,https://www.rx7club.com/single-turbo-rx-7s-23/some-pics-my-custom-twins-462274/ , the added effort and complication is definately worth it in my book , my boost response is amazing and the power potential is huge , last trip to the dyno she made 350 at 6500RPM's and 15psi before my ignition system gave out , I've logged 20+psi at 3600rpm's already, I'm slipping my OS twin plate clutch AGAIN !
