biggest turbo that fit on the hks to4 manifold?

since my motor blew up, it damaged couple hosing, and maybe the rotors. My exhaust side of the turbo is also damaged, couple of the blades is bended. to rebuild the turbo i think it will cost somewhere in the $500 range? I was thinking to upgraded my turbo to the next bigger size and still be able to use the manifold that came with the to4 E kit. The motor now will be fully build. hurley seals, big street port and cryo all the internal ect. I should be able to benifit from going with a bigger turbo like the t04S?

it doesn't come with a wastegate but you'll need an external wastegate to make it work.

I think a T62-1 is the biggest that will fit on a T04E HKS manifold.... I have a T60-1 on that manifold. Before I bought all my stuff I ceck into it and thats what I was told

Hope that helps Brad

If the HKS manifold is the same as the XS manifold, which has been discussed in depth earlier, then you can fit whatever you want on there. I am running a T66 on the XS manifold. Its a tight fit, but it works and doesn't hit anywhere.

machinehead, I am considering a T66, how do you like yours? What are the specs? Any dynos? I was thinking a T66, Qtrim, .81ar, comments? Car is a fully built 13brew/E6k 88FC. Thanks for any input, Carl BTW, if you pm me your phone number , I'd like to talk about it. TIA

there is no way your going to fit a T66 on the hks cast manifold on the FD. the compressor housing is just way to wide and will not clear the frame rail.

the xs to4s is about the biggest you can go. or any turbo that is not running bigger than a .70 compessor housing. I think the xs is just a 60-1 with a .70 compressor housing instead of the .60

if you want to run something bigger you have to move up to there stainless manifold which puts the turbo up a little bit higher

I agree with Mako,

I tried a T66BB on my HKS mani and it bumped the frame rail and the intake plentum....If it would have fit I would have bougt a T66.. I have a Garrett T60-1 w/ .70 compressor and 1.00 turbine and it fits great and it produces 400-500rwhp on good fuel...

I guess that answers the question of weather the XS and HKS are the same thing or not... because it will fit with the XS manifold.

Carl, no dyno yet but I am very happy with the T66. I went with 1.0 devided Q trim, spool is great but I have the Innovative dual BB.

Are we talking FD, or FC? I was planning on putting a T66 on my FC with a HKS cast manifold. I have a TO4s on their now and there is a good 2.5" of clearance between the compressor/exhaust housing and the frame. I'm not sure if HKS has made more than one style. Is the T66 more than 5" bigger than the TO4s?
Machinehead? What is the diameter of the T66 at its largest point? Would you use the 1.00ar again? Can I get that turbo oil and water cooled, 3.5" vband undivided? Carl

On further inspection, I see that the frame is in fact closer than I realized. Prodably only an inch clearance to the frame > Will this clear? What manifold will I have to go to to clear a T66? Sounds like the xs may work. I guess I still need that overall diameter on the T66.

The HKS and XS manifolds are similar, however, they are different. The XS is more freer flowing as well as being able to use bigger turbos.

Well there you have it. If the XS will fit a T66, get that turbo over a T60-1....There both awesome turbos for street, drag, and track, but the T66 has a little more wooomp....My friend has two T66 BB's on an FD...Its something else I'm telling you..... I'm sure you FD guys know Kevin "ASP" Wyum? His car is the ****.........Brad

problem is i don't have the xs manifold, i have the hks manifold. I know for a fact that i can upgarded to the t04S with is a 60-1? and still use the manifold that came with the kit. if i go anything bigger i will have to get a stainless manifold?

To the best of my knowledge the largest turbo on an HKS manifold is a t62-1....Great turbo, so is the T60-1 which will also fit.....The T04s, T60-1 and T62-1 will be in the same neighborhood for hp/boost. If you want a T66 or anything bigger you'll need a Custom SS manifold......

isn't the t62-1 is like the same as the t04R? if so , it will not fit with my cast manifold? i notice the t04r kit come with stainless, not cast. jus the E and the S come with cast? anyhow, i will give hks a call tomrrow, see what say.
thanks

I think the HKS T04R is a T66, the T04S is the 60-1.

With the cast HKS manifold, turbonetics (I believe, I can find out where he got it for sure) sells an adapter to place the T-66 slightly higher so that it will clear the frame rail. I've seen it on an FC, unsure on an FD. I think Marvelspeed has an FD with a t-66 on it, but I'm not sure... I know David was talking about it, but I don't know if they went that far or not (yet). Anyhow, they can hook you up with what you need, plus, he's built countless RX7s, FC and FD among others... so I'd give him a call.

I found out the adapter is made by HKS, not turbonetics.

I just fit a T66 on my FD with a SR cast manifold ... no fitment issues. I guess it's similar to the XS mani and not the HKS.

There are two manifolds SR sells, one for 300.00, for to4s, and one for larger turbos that they get 700.00 for. I would like to find the HKS extension if it exists to allow me to bolt up a GT40 to the HKS. Carl
