it isnt hard to search the forum, its been discusses a ton, depending upon boost levels, and porting expect anywhere between 380rwhp-425rwhp at 14psi and as much as 460 at 17psi, check around.

i searched, couldn't find them other than the old 400hp number.

what's the cap on psi before it just starts cooking air? how much can you get out of it with the average street port?

I think dougiefresh has made 460rwhp at 17psi, I know that according to apexi the efficiency on this turbo is 17ps psi and above. The turbo has been run on mr2's to make over 550rwhp at 30psi

I know i have talked to dougiefresh. He runs low 12's with stock IC. I dunno what he is runnin now thou havent chatted with him for a wial. I dont belive that 400 is the cap but i think thats all they recomend to run. Well when ever i hear HP numbers from like a tuning garage its allways around 15psi, cuz i belive thats what apex and RX-7.com recomends. Well i guess that works for me, just at or below 400 is my target, for drivability reasons, if you can call that drivability. LOL

460rwhp with RX6 at 17psi??? That just sounds too much for that turbo. Can you post a link where you found that?

I just caluculated how much money anyonewould need just to buy the parts strait out, without a discount, from RX7.com and it would cost $8203.00. That is with top of the line **** thou.

$204 Greddy Type S
$299 FC-Datalogit (ECU Program)
$995 RP secondary rail and 1600cc injector kit w/ SX regulator and RP Competition pump
$1,330 Apex'i Power FC
$1,395 Apex'i FMIC
$3,980 Apex'i RX-6 Turbo Kit
= $8203.00

They claim they will give people packaged deals like this but I would like to know how much of a discount you would acctully get.

Check out:

http://www.catenet.net/graph.php?car56=1&SUBMIT=GRAPH

This is a dyno run with an RX6 turbo running 18 psi on what appears to be a street ported 13B-REW. Peak HP looks to be about 440 on the graph.

Many folks that I know advise not running rotaries at more than 1.2 bar, BTW, so be careful when going to much higher boost levels than this.

I think this is a very solid setup.

Efficiency ranges are different for rotary engines. We generally achieve the horsepower marks with lower psi ratings. That's why we all had 255 at 10psi while we're seeing cars like WRX's making only 225 at 14psi, and they don't have the restrictions that our stock manifolds and turbos have in them. Piston engines just boost much higher than rotaries. The compressed air flow has to stop and go a lot when it hits the heads. With no valves, that flow never really stops in rotaries. That's why moderately modded Supras run over 20psi and only the ridiculously mean RX-7's we know of are pushing it up that high.

I made 380rwhp on 1bar on 91 octane.

I have a street ported motor, power FC, SMIC, and all the fuel stuff.

I don't know about you guys, but I think that Maxcooper is da' man as far as it goes at knowledge. But he says, if he had to do it all again, he probably would have either whent with a t04e or t04s. (I remember reading it somewhere.) Anyways, I think that the Rx6 is way over priced. I'd look at a T04E first. CJ

You can also look at a 62-1 or if you can find it, the 63-1 is one hell of a turbo as well. Just some food for thought.

the rotary does respond very well to breathing improvements, but this example for stock engines forgets about displacement.

basic effective engine size is displ in 2 revs times absolute boost ratio. wrx is 2.0 x (14.7+14)/14.7 = 3.90L. FD =2.6 x (14.7+10)/14.7 = 4.37L, or 12% more effective displacement.

FD is 255 at 6500, wrx is 227 at 6000. The stock FD has the expected 12% more hp based on effective displacement, but it takes 8% more rpm to do it.

I have a car in the shop right now that I will be tuning in the next day. It has the typical mods with Apexi turbo and street ported motor. I will post the HP numbers once Im done.
