460 rwhp at 17psi ( 1.15 bar ) TURBO ????

Guys, i prepare a new engine with :

3mm hurley racing apex seals
street porting
Greddy fmic
koyo rad
hks twin power
magnecor 16 bit wires
3 inch full exh
sard 280 lt/h in tank
sard fuel reg
850 prim
1300 sec
PFC + datallog
avcr boost contoller
etc....
As i know with (850+1300cc) = 4300cc total flow and 85% duty cycle can produce 460hp at the wheels. I would like to know which is the ideal turbo ( efficiency )to put down this power with 17 psi ( 1,15 bar of boost ) ?
Thanks.

I believe you'd be able to achieve that power or close to it with a T-78 or GT40r. But it depends on what you mean by Ideal.

sevenin if you have the money go for the new Apexi AX75F92 or a T51R-KAI, they will give you those numbers although i don't know how laggy they will be. Otherwise a well tuned T78 with a bit more boost.

maybe a T78 with a 88mm GT40R compressor wheel? some guys have used this, they are happy with it apparently.

By the time you do this you could just go with the straight 40R and have a easier to get parts for turbo.

Someone needs to cough up a GT40 dyno graph and backup the "its as good as the T-78" claims.

t78 is what you want, 400 plus is right around its efficiancy. smaller turbos you are going to have to spin the **** out of and will probably wear out faster, not to mention create more heat. Bigger turbos will be more laggy.

We have seen those numbers out of the T-78, but thats on a large port. Its doable

Depends on how much power and response you want. The T-78 is a great setup and if I didnt think so it wouldnt be on my car

If you are looking for a complete setup the XS T04S kit is the most complete. Makes good HP and comes with intercooler piping and blow off valve. Best bang for the buck.

If you had a Greddy intercooler, wouldnt the t-78 kit be more complete?

At that boost level and your HP goal you really need to go large on the turbo. Even then your not garrenteed 460 at 17 psi. Thats a LOAD of power also. Expect to have some fierce mods for the driveline.

TO4R, GT40R, T78, T-51R Kai or SPL, T88, PT67. You have several choices that are capable of what you are looking for. Alot of it will come down to your tuning and how much lag you are willing to have. Although shooting for numbers like that, lag shouldn't be that much of a consideration for you.

Jason, rx7tt95 posted dyno graphs of his standard bearing GT4082 in this forum. He put down 410 at 15psi and that was with a/f's in the 10's from what I remember. Just remember that's the smaller of the GT40 compressor wheels too. Just wanted to point that out since you asked about dyno graphs. Laterz.

A turbonettics T66 spec'd right will do 500RWHP (dynojet) at 18PSI and will spool only 2-300 rpm slower than a GT3540

You seem to be mis-leading him along the lines of tuning. Your comment "He put down 410 at 15psi and that was with a/f's in the 10's from what I remember" leads him to believe he can make alot more power with higher a/r ratios(11.0's), yet raising A/F ratio only give a minimal increase in HP gains, where most of the extra power is made is in timing i.e. proper timing, zeroing split, minimal split ect. Enough said just want to set that straight.

I made 453 rwhp with a Turbonetics 62-1 with .96 on center exhaust housing and P trim at 16-17 psi. It is a very reliable turbo. The car is a daily driven FC.

Do you happen to have a dyno sheet of that? Just curious at the powerband.
